I made 394/408 locked in 3rd gear with my cutouts open. I think my cam might be advanced +8 instead of +4 like it's supposed to be though. The guy that built the motor was supposed to have fixed it, but it peaks at 5500...

why are you running shorties?? That 383 is gonna need to breath! You got the big old intake you need the exhaust to go with it...

Default should be potent

People on here for some reason think I have no idea what I'm talking about so take it how it is. Your dynamic compression Is gonna be a little high 26-27* timing at most with about 12.7 afr. You have a decent intake for torque but it doesn't have the plenum volume to keep up with the tb and heads. That combo should peak about 6.5k. Should make atleast 480rwhp with a locked converter depending on its efficiency. The shortys will only slightly effect torque unless there smaller than 1 3/4. All in all you should be satisfied but your drivetrain will not like you!

thanks for the info, driveline should hold up it has a ford 8.8 and the axles are rated at 650whp, my goal is 450 whp with the 3600 stall, i think the headers are 1-5/8 but not 100% on that

I had those heads on my 402, good heads. But not enough for what I wanted. Like with all things some people make good #s others dont. At any rate that thing will scream in a little car like that.

"The shortys will only slightly effect torque unless there smaller than 1 3/4."

That has been my experience as well. Above peak torque there is not much to chose from. Below peak torque the long tubes have an advantage.

digging up an old thread, here are my 383 numbers. PRC 215 heads, Torquer 3 cam, FAST 90 setup, 1.75 inch headers, built RPM transmission and differential. This car is very, very easy to drive.

My friend ALOHAC5 on CF made 513RHWP running a Futral cam around 239-244 in his 383. That was with AFR 205's and a 90/90 setup. Unfortunately, he just took the main and rod bearing out on that build. Fortunately, VA Speed is build him a 403.
