Exclamation Finally Dynoed my ride

I was surprised that it dynoed 291/320 to the wheels. Is this a common thing for these cars to dyno so high? I thought I was supposed to subtract 20% from 305 for an A4?

Dynojet usually give the highest numbers.

Mustang dyno's show lower numbers generally.

SAE correction factors?

And those are great numbers man.

x2 on which dyno type and the correction factor, if one was used. People will argue all day long about which dyno's show "true" numbers, which typically show high or low, how they can be manipulated to show whatever the shop wants it to, etc, etc, but the bottom line is the majority of numbers posted for "comparative purposes" are SAE from a dynojet. Not all, but the majority.

Now watch me get flamed and lectured on how and why every other dyno out there is better than a dynojet. Really it doesn't matter which type of dyno I said in my above statement because the argument is never-ending and someone always has some reason why they are right, why their numbers are "true" numbers, and how the dyno they got dynoed on reads very low compared to all the other dynos in their area.

Well I went again today and to see what my SLP lid did for me. It gave me 6rwhp. Amazing!!!! I LOVE the LS1 engine! I cant wait to put a ls6 intake and full exhuast. Does this mean I have a strong car or is this typical for f-bodies? BTW My buddy owns the shop. I trade plumbing for mods if anybody in south fla needs anything done.

Your numbers seem about average. 285-295rwhp stock for 2000 & older LS1. The LS6 intake & headers are really going to wake that LS1 up for sure.

Nice numbers and nice gains from the lid!

The percentage that you take to try the figure out flywheel to rear wheel horsepower is something else that gets debated endlessly (alot of factors come into play here), but remember that these cars were under rated, and the actual flywheel number is closer to 340 (think Corvette, 345 rating in those years).

Not high at all. The cars were just severely underrated for many different reasons/purposes. Regardless, an LS1 is an LS1 is an LS1. The 01+ cars definitely have an edge due to the better 241 casting heads and LS6 intake but again, an LS1 is an LS1

I sure as **** hope not. If they do, they can eat ****. People need to understand that other dynos that require user/operator input can be more easily manipulated to show whatever they want. Good post PSM.

Typical, so long as it hasn't been completely neglected with regards to simple maintenance. LS6 intake and full exhaust will REALLY wake that car up man. Just be sure to replace the spark plugs after doing the headers as most people inadvertently crack the porcelain by hitting them with the headers during install. I'd also highly recommend an aftermarket stall converter as the car will be night and day difference in regards to acceleration. Don't forget the tuning after doing the exhaust! It's a must!
