Default Who runs a low lift/medium duration cam?

Curious. All the cams I see on the market are fairly
high lift (.570-.6xx) small and large duration. What happened
to the cams like COMPS Extreme RPM cams? Whatcha got,and
how does it run?

Thanks for participating. I'm looking for info
on cams with less lift. Say under .550/.560 lift.

Small cams can work good when matched to a set of heads, but most don't want a small cam when you can get a good size one(that might make more power)that idles decent. I'm saving my ($200 used)small cams for budget builds, I've got a old MTI B1 cam and a comp 269 cam that'll work nice in a 5.3 or 6.0 for my truck.

Theres no need to be worry with valvetrain issue if youre not going over 600'. So 550' is low and unnessary unless you wanna run some LS6 springs...

I'm rocking an old TR224 for 6years on stock valvetrain except 918 springs and everything is fine..407rwhp

I have a comp xer281 232/234 with 598. lift 112

I think its on the medium/large side.

I got it for 250 used, love the sound and makes good power.

Alot of guys say its a old technology cam and needs a advance.

I made 410hp 369 with the cam, headers, kooks cats ,10%udp and a porter t.b. on slowhawks mustang dyno .

My cam is a 230/236 .551/.551 112. Cam/bolt-ons I made 420/374 through the stock drivetrain and went 11.9 @ 117.9 mph with my crappy driving.

There we go.That is exactly the kinda info,(lower lift) I was looking for.
Do you have anymore specs on this cam? Who made it,lobes, etc.
Thanks for posting.

No problem. I don't really have much more info on it, other than the specs were chosen by East Side Performance. I believe they called it the ESP1 cam. I believe it was ground +2. I actually bought the cam used from a guy who worked there and they gave me the info (this was back in 2005).

Later versions of their cam had less duration (224/228 or something in that range) and more lift (.581 range).

After installing high-flow cats, 12-bolt rear, HD driveshaft, nitrous tune, and an underdrive pulley, the car put down 400/363 on the same dyno (Dynojet). I was still hitting 117 mph at the same track, in similar conditions though, I believe due to my learning the car and shifting better. (After switching to 28" tires for the track, I never trapped over 115.x mph with that setup).

I recently put a set of Trickflow 215's on it and went with 1.8 rockers at the same time, so the current lift is in the .583 range.

Here's a cam I did a little while back on a budget build. We got the cam cheap. 222/230 .560/.540 114 cam. Picked up 48rwhp through stock mufflers. Would be closer to 60rwhp through a good exhaust.

226/226 .585/.585 on a 112 here, I love it. Numbers in sig has fast 90 and a chambermouth exhaust now so they may go up a little bit!

I'm running a Speed Inc SI5 (231/237 .589/.595 112lsa) in my '00 m6 SS. I love it, great street manners, nice idle, and makes great power. My car made 405rwhp and 376rwtq thru a 9" and has run a best cam only E.T. of 11.23@121.
