Default AES 442ci LS stroker on the dyno

Been working with a customer on adding a torquey street driven LS engine to his 4th gen Camaro. We settled on a 442ci LS7 blocked stroker with TFS 235 heads, and camshaft with street manners, 11.5:1 compression.

LS7 Engine block
Manley pistons -11cc 4.130" bore size
Total Seal moly piston rings
Callies Compstar 4.125" Crankshaft
Callies Compstar 6.125" H beams
Calico coated Clevite H bearings
Trick Flow 235cc heads
Yella Terra 1.7 rockers
Comp Cam, 244/248 .612/.615 114º LSA

Ran it in with a Carburetor to break in the engine,
get some baseline numbers. Everything proved well till we found a problem with the MSD 6010 box cutting spark at 6300rpm, i'm looking into it. We've tried many configurations on the rev limiter, timing etc., tried the modules instead, same 6300 rpm timing light shut off.

So far we're at 650hp@6300, 581tq@5100, I expect we have another 1,000 rpm left in it. Still have the engine on the dyno may make some pulls this weekend after NMCA.

Why the TFS heads instead of the LS7 heads? Just wondering... Nice results so far, can't wait to see it when it is all ironed out.

I'm assuming that is a Super Vic on it? Is it a 4500 carb necking down to 4150 or is that a 4150 spacer?

we had the same problem with the MSD stuff when mine was on the pump. Its junk IMO we finally got it to work but i cant remember what it was. Something with the programming.

Like its hitting the rev limiter, set the hi rev limiter to 10,000 + rpm to be sure, and if you install a timing module it will override any setting inputted.

We tested the rev limiter, it does same thing, It shuts off spark entirely, so its pretty useless rev limiter.

part throttle engine was smooth as a civic, dialed in 28º cross the board. Not a bad setup if that bug can get fixed.

Under the curve power, these heads outflow LS7 .300-.400" lift where it matters on hyd. roller street setup. Customer has FAST 90/90 already too.

Super Victor is 4150, 4500 carb necked down to 4150.

As Fraser mentioned I already have a fast 90/90 and didn't want to switch it around. I know that I could have sold that setup but that is just a pita when everything has to cross the border.
This build was not about getting maximum hp I know Fraser would have liked to have specked a much larger cam but I wanted something that wasn't falling out of tune all the time and shaking every nut and bolt loose in the car.

Are you willing to provide the ICL of the cam?

specified 112 ICL, degree wheel showed 111, which is pretty good for comp cam, it should settle in at 112 when the chain gets some time on it.

Interesting.. I obviously don't know all the little details of the motor, but if I stick the details you provided in to performance trends engine analyzer, I get almost perfect numbers with your dyno, except the peaks are off. Obviously some things I can see right off the bat like the EWP, no mechanical fan ect and can account for those in the proggram. I took a guess on header size and stuck it at 1 7/8 and 30" long.

568ftlbs @ 5,400
654hp @ 6,600

I have found EA to be fairly accurate with other combos I have seen, at least as far as power goes. The one thing that seems to be off though is where peak power is made, just like in this case. It is always 300-500rpm higher than it really is.

Thanks for the info..

Thanks for giving me the heads up on that analyzer, I've used a few of them, that one had lot more information then just horsepower and compression, played with it for about 2hrs on sunday

I take it the calculation part is quicker with the full version? When its calculating numbers on the demo version it takes about 2-3 mintues.

I typically find with these analyzers the numbers and peaks maybe off, but the gains made with changes (compression, camshaft, cfm etc) are fairly accurate.
