Default 2009 CTS-V dyno tune

First run is a stock baseline run, second is with tuning and third is with Kooks 1 7/8" long tubes.

All runs were at 200-210* coolant temp and 100-110* IAT.

18hp/17tq from longtubes, that pretty normal for a motor that big? Good numbers either way in a friggin sexy *** caddy.

That's about standard for Kook's headers without a pulley or other mods. Maybe a tad low but not exactly unheard of.
Did you retune after installation of the Kooks and are you running the Kooks into factory muffs?
Also, I'm assuming that you ran the Kook's x-pipe & Kook's pieces all the way back to the muffs?
If not, a big restriction on the '09's & up are the squished areas of the exhaust tubing where the factory hammered them for clearance for other items.
A 9" or a 9.5" lower will do a lot on top of what you have done.
What's do you have for a CAI?
HTH
Is that an auto (A6) or a stick (M6)?

We used the Kooks x-pipe and the car had Corsa mufflers on it already, no CAI yet either.

I take it that the Corsas were already installed on the baseline run?
Car's an auto, correct?
A CAI will help, but probably nothing out of the ordinary.
Did you retune after the Kooks were installed?
I have heard that the Corsa Sport muffs are good for about 16 RWHP and / or RWTQ on a bone stock '09 CTS-V.
If that was a stick, those #'s would be significantly higher, but so would the baseline.

Yes tuning was done after the header install and the baseline was with the Corsa mufflers.

This is a manual trans car too, our dyno is reluctant to giving glorious numbers on any car.

I have not done a muffler alone before and after but I would have a very hard time believing they improve it much at all.

Those #'s do seem a little low to me for a M6.
And yes, I have a hard time believing that any muffler will add 16 RWHP too. but that's what I was told. Now that you mention it, that does seem pretty far fetched. I think that a tuner told me that, too.

hellbents 10, in your honest opinion, what's the best aftermarket CAI for these cars, what RWHP & RWTQ would you expect it to add on a otherwise bone stock car, and what RWHP & RWTQ would you expect it to add on a highly modified (stock block, no heads or cam work, but everything else) '09 CTS-V?

Ligenfelter has a nice one that comes with there pulley kit, that is all I have seen. I would imagine that the hp difference for just the CAI is not that great.

You will start to see more from the headers and the CAI intake when you start making real boost. Getting the crank and blower pulley done with a snout upgrade and you will be making some good power!

Solid gains! How can you argue with a car that comes with all that luxory, performance, and is very easy to mod

Very nice. The car we recently did was an auto. It came in detonating on the stock tune with 91 octane in it and made something like 430. We did the pulley kit and CAI from LPE first and it made 524 after I was done tuning it. That was with stock exhaust. Next we did Kooks 1 7/8" with a Corsa and it made the exact same even after a few hours of tuning. It was much less sensitive to agressive timing, but didn't pick up anything with the headers and cat back. With the stock exhaust being so crappy looking we assumed we'd gain about what yours did. Excellent results out of it though TJ. Ours is coming back in next week for heads and cam. I'll call you with the results.

What type of dyno & correction factor?
What was the ambient temperature and the IAT's?
Would the car have done any better on higher octane fuel without a tune?
That was a great increase/improvement for only LPE pulley kit, CAI, & tune.
Exactly how much did yours pick up after the Kooks & Corsas?
If you had it over to do again, would you still do and / or recommend doing the Kooks & Corsas? How about the Kooks hooked up to the factory muffs?
Please post up the results of the heads &n cam, as I am closely following this thread.
Are you in a tuning / performance shop in LV?

Zippy I seen much of the same with this one too lol. It was showing just a bit of KR on the stock tune and was slow coming into PE of coarse.

With headers you could add timing but it would not make any more power in doing so.

Please let me know what it does with the heads and cam!!!!

I'm having a hard time seeing hellbents 10's #'s. Is his final RWHP # 500 or 508?

Max HP is listed as 508 on the dyno, but all three pulls had an unusual spike at the very end which gained ~10hp.

Thanks, Jim, That changes everything. The headers did make a substantial improvement, though, as their gains were reasonably consistent throughout the full range of RPM.
