Default Dyno'd today with the Thunder Racing RapTr 236/242 compared to Comp 224/228 I had

So after fixing my Cometic head gasket problem which looks to have been caused by the Patriot head on that side having runout. I went back with GM gaskets, .010" milled heads, .080" fly-cut pistons and Thunder Racing's RapTr .236/.243 .617/.613 cam. I have an overlay graph and some videos if they turned out okay.

Thanks to Fran and the crew at Race Proven Motorsports! The tune really woke it up and the numbers are from the same RPM dyno I did the 224/228 Comp Cams pulls on.

Here you go. With the 224/228 it was 398 RWHP and 379 torque. Our tuned pull with the RapTr and closed exhaust was 437 RWHP and 383 torque. We opened up the cutout and it went 456 RWHP and 395 torque.

Thanks! It picked up 58 RWHP from the 11.41@119 MPH pass. Don't know if that is enough to push my sled in the 10's or not. MPH should pick up 4 or 5 I would think.

I have a thread in the internal section with the gasket. Basically we had coolant leakage out the driver's side after installing the new Cometics and new Patriots. It gradually showed it's ugly head until finally pushing coolant into the overflow. When the heads were checked at the shop the leaker was found to have runout which caused the gasket issue.

Definitely badass numbers and great gains with the new setup! I think I might look into a cam similar to the one you just went with once it's time to upgrade from my current one.

Let us know how it runs at the track!

Amazing what big cams do for these motors. When I was SI going 11.79 one guy I raced in the other lane blew by me at the end... he had a MS4 and gears only. I think I went 11.80 and he went 12.0 but my MPH was 114 and his 118. I should have just taken note of how much top end they were getting and gone big from jump.

If I had to do it all over again I would have just slapped a TRex or it's equal in the motor and called it a day.

Similar numbers to what I got out of mine with the RapTR cam. My torque was up a little more if I remember right. Otherwise I am pretty overwhelmed with this cam and the power it puts out, while still being good on the street.

9" or 10 bolt? I know the 9" is eating some. It idles worse than the 224/228 naturally but on the highway I find it drives better. Isn't that nuts!

I bet a TRex would be a bit of a PITA driving much or DD!

Now thats a great graph for running down the track. If you ran 11.4 before I can see a 10 second pass. Congrats man.

Awesome results! I'm glad you got the head gasket issue worked out.

That sounds like a 10 sec combo for sure!

Thanks

Thanks!

Really think I have a shot? I don't know how to decipher the graphs but what is it about that one that looks good for a track outing?

Thank you! It drives pretty darn good especially the highway. I don't have the gear for the TRex but think this one matches me pretty good.
