Default What will I dyno?

I just finished installing my PP 5.3 heads, FMS F11- 228/230-581/597 114 cam, and LSX intake manifold. Im going to be dyno tuning the car when the snow melts but i thought i would get some guesses from you guys on what do you think id put down with my setup. Cant wait to drive this thing, it sounds great. I hate snow so much.

id say around 430-440 depends on what you dynoed with boltons. maby more with the lsx

imo you should get that with a cam only no heads with the lsx intake. the tr 230/224 put 410 stock heads and thats through a 12 bolt. with the ls6 intake. just my 2 cents

Some similar examples:
99 Firehawk M6 PP S2 5.3s 228/228 391 rwhp
99 T/A M6 PP S2 5.3s 224/224 389 rwhp
99 SS M6 PP S2 5.3s 232/232 396 rwhp
00 Z28 M6 PP S2 5.3s 228/228 394 rwhp
02 WS6 M6 PP S2 LS6 224/224 408 rwhp

Lastly, and perhaps most telling of all:
02 WS6 M6 PP S2 LS6 G5X2 (232/240) 429 rwhp
02 WS6 M6 G5X2 (232/240) cam only, stock heads 429 rwhp

You do the math. I was being generous at 410. Your point about the 230/224 putting 410 to the wheels is a good point. An engine is like any other machine, it is only as effecient as its weakest part.

DISCLAIMER: Before I get flamed for this, it took me about 2-3 minutes to find these examples. Go into "Internal Engine" and do a search for "dyno", then look at the PP dynos. There is a pattern, and much like a puzzle, it just needs to be put together.

ok i believe you, but none of them had the lsx intake right. that is worth 20 over the ls1 and 12 over the ls6 at thunders testings. also were all those with tunes and stock rears. these factors are worth another possible 20hp over the ls6 intake with the stock rear. alot of m6 with cams already have the 12bolt. just making an arguable point. not starting anything.

Way to many dyno queens , it is just a number, track times only count, it is funny how you always see these hi dyno #s and then a guy comes along with 40 less hp and post better track times , kinda makes you wonder. **** I dynoed 311 hp and I ran 111mph in the 1/4 (A4 , 273s stock cam, ls1 intake, 2800 stall, lid, pulley , magnaflow , no weight reduction), come on guys the dyno is a tool , that what it should be used for, not for braggin rights who dynoed higher or lower. And then make a write up on how they are unhappy that someones parts dont perform as well as others. I get so tired of reading how people are disapointed in what there car dynoed , If people spent half that time in learning how to drive there car I think they would be happy.

Lsx intake has not shown enough gains to warrant its price tag, only a few posted decent gains many others are below average IMO, Ill wait for more results myself.

You also have to add the 20 rwhp or 12 rwhp gained from the LSx intake to the AS, TEA, MTI, and GTP heads dyno numbers, making PP still this far "behind" IMO.

You're right, the dyno is a tool. It is a tool of measurement that is to be used to compare setups, before/after mods, etc. Dyno numbers are as accurate or more accurate of a comparison than track times in many cases, there are less variables (driving ability, weight, car setup, weather, etc), IMO. Dyno numbers tell of how much power a H/C setup makes, and removes the cars/drivers ability to make that power work. I too have seen 400+ rwhp cars get beat by stock internals cars, that says more about the cars and drivers than it does about how superior the stock heads and cam are, right?

Silver98Z28- I hope you get the results you are looking for, good luck, post the results when you get it dynoed. On a side note, how does the cam idle, sound, etc?

i wasnt arguing the quality of the heads just was saying that was why i said he would get those numbers. i personally dont like the pp heads. but you also get what you pay for. but i didnt realize they flowed that bad though.
