Default input on prc cnc'd l92's and motor combo

its a 408 tsp shortblock with -4cc flat top pistons,lg G6X3 cam, victor jr carbed intake,850 quick fuel carb,1 7/8 headers...the motor will have around 10.5 compression and i'm wondering if this sounds like a good power maker to ya'll...only thing i dont like is compression is alittle low for me and i dont much about the prc cnc'd l92's,and i dont know anything about the cam or its specs...this will be in a 2700 fox with a powerglide and a 8inch 4500 converter...any advice will be appreciated..thanks billy

It should do alright but without knowing the cam specs its kind of hard to predict how well the motor will do. I would try and get those if possible.

Is it already assembled? If not, I'd consider milling the heads to get more compression, along with running a thin gasket!

If it helps my 408 has ported ls3's and 10.8-1 comp. I have a cam pat g speced for me designed for a 300 shot. My car has a th350 with 3.73's and a pi 3800 converter. Race weight is 3530 and my car is a dog out of the hole on motor. It went 10.70 at 126 NA on 93 pump gas. with a 4500 converter my car would be quit a bit faster on motor. That 408 sounds pretty good. Worst case you my need to play with the cam to get what you want.

Your car would be nasty with a good running 408

I had ported l92 heads and my car went 10.85 127mph on a 1.44 60 foot. I switched to trickflow 235 and went 10.63 130mph on a 1.56 60 foot. My 60 foots got worse due to worn slicks but i still went faster. Also,i gained 20hp and 15 tq more under the curve. With new slicks the trick flow combo could of went low 10.50's. or a hi-10.4. n/a on 93 oct,m6 car at 3,700lbs with me in it.

My 418 with those heads and cam got me 496rwhp on a mustang dyno and my trans was shot. The heads and cam make a nice pkg. I make peak hp at 6750 rpm through a stock ported ls3 intake.
Anyway hope that helps

You guys remember he is using a victor jr and a carb setup? As others have said it might not be crisp out of the hole seeing that the cam is set up to run in FI manifold cars, but hard to say for sure. Might be worth a cam swap and/or compression bump.

i would be very interested in knowing how your car would run with that motor. i was thinking of a simular build for my notch with a tad more cr and a different cam. or a 370 ci, pro flow xt, cathedral headed turbo car. shooting for -2800 pounds either way.
