update!!!

ok me and john pulled the top end apart and everthing looking great, we put a new computer in it (the other one was locked) and he retuned it..fixed the throttle body so it opens all the way and replaced the spark plugs.. it felt ALOT better , but after driving it some i noticed the breather on the valve cover would get saturated with oil so i decided to clean it really good and then sea foam the motor and install a catch can.. while doing so i noticed at idle the breather would have slight puffs of smoke at idle and once revved it would produce more...knowing that wasnt a good thing i took it to XXX motorsports where they did a leak down test and #7 is leaking 78% and #5 is leaking 10%..so not i guess with that and the throttle not opening all the way is the reason i didnt make the right power..so now im going to pull the motor and either replace the short block or have this one gone threw.. just wanted to let those that cared what happened.....

update!

ok so the motor is back in and running, gotta break in the rings and put some miles on it then ill dyno it again and see where we are.. as far as what was found when tore down. its funny what people do to these cars.. u buy 2500 heads and do a **** job at installing them the head bolts where hand tight as in was taken off with a 3/8 ratchet.. the stock head gasket material was not even scraped off the block before the new MLS gasket was put on and then the heads. so of course we found a coolant leak into the chambers and down the the back of the head...its all fixed now though the motor went back in today and luckily the heads look great still and so does the cylinder walls..im just in shock that the head bolts werent torqued down at all and the stock gasket wasnt scraped off..the previous owner i got it from (off here) said the head and cam install was done at the local GM dealer in huston..if so they need to be fired asap..this is the LAST modded car i buy used ever again. yall beware of buying modded cars and how well the owner took car of them. im relieved that its back runnning and done right this time around..

I had a similar problem years ago with an old Chrysler that a dealer worked on. Old gasket material still in place and pasted over with a new one. It took me a long time to figure out where the motor was leaking and the only reason I did was because I had to change a headlight and could smell coolant as the motor was cooling and dribbling out some coolant. When the motor heated the leak couldn't be found.

As far as the modded car, its only as good as the work to install and the care taken of the car. If I ever sell my car, the new owner would get detailed notes and photos of all the work done.

Hope this works out for you, will be interested to see how it does on the dyno as I have a similar setup.
