Default More mods, less HP?!!!! Help!

Okay, I had my 02 WS6 dyno'd at about 4k miles. 310 HP w/ an SLP lid as the only modification. I was very happy with the numbers! I then added a Corsa at about 12k miles and dyno'd at 314. I wasn't overly impressed with that increase, but oh well. Today I'm at 17k and I've added a ported TB, SLP Bellows, and a cutout. I dynoed a massive 311!!!!!

What's going on? Am I mising some maintenance? My driver's rear tire seemed out of balance, would that make any difference? My filter might be a little old, but man I don't think that could be it. Any ideas?

First, was this done all on the same dyno, same place? Roughly the same time of year? If it was done roughlly at the same time of year I would compare my uncorrected numbers as well. MAybe their correction factors are varing. Second, I would definately get the tire balanced/checked. If it is really bad, I can see some of the energy being lost as the wheel wobbles from side to side. You should have netted around the 320ish area. If that's not the case, I would suggest going back to the stock TB if you still have it.

I am not saying anything bad about the TB. I myself was just about to get a Janzter but maybe when adjusting the TB blade, the positioning got messed up. I know the stock TB dosent really use the full WOT potential because the blade is not perfectly flat. When it was moddified, maybe it was done a little too much. Instead of WOT, the blade may go a little too far and close a little bit. Give a visual inspection.

Thanks for the response Blaster, to answer your questions...

The dyno was at the same place each time, the 2nd dyno was in the summer, the others in the winter. The correction factors were 0.93, 1.01, and 0.94 respectively. I was fully expecting 320 like you say. I'm getting the tire checked Monday. I didn't notice any problem with the TB before I had it on, but it's worth a look.

I also picked up some NGK TR55 spark plugs....

I too would also take a look at the TB. Maybe who ever ported it didnt now what they were doing and messed it up.

Was the A/F monitered? With a ported TB and a cutout open it could haved leaned out quite a bit.

Correction, if you go to Install University, under bump stop mod, you will find what I was talking about. However, if it did go past the 90% position (started to rotate closed again) it states you would get a SES light. With this being said, I would just eyeball it if you do not have a diagnostic tool or voltmeter to check the position but do not want to lay total blame on the TB just yet. I would change the plugs, get the tires checked, and if everything is OK, then take it to the track. If your times and MPH get a little better, than I would just attributed it dyno varience. Good Luck.

Thanks Blaster.

ss_rally_red, the A/F was not monitored, the dyno runs were just "Dyno Day" events, 2 basic pulls. A TB would lean, but I thought a cutout richens things though?

Did you ever get it figured out?

It sounds strange that your numbers would go down like that.
