2000 ls1 70mm
Got my buddies 2000 z28 up and going with ebay! junk turbo stuff...
ebay hotside, wrapped
-38mm gate and on3performance 70mm 1.0 a/r
car has 141k miles and a vrx3 cam...not the greatest for boost i'm sure, 60lb injectors and a single 255. th400 and no name 3600 converter, 4.10 gear still
it made 500RWHP and 519tq on 7lb.
it made 388hp cam only a couple years ago if that helps any, through a 6 speed
I wonder how off our RWHP numbers are going through a loose no name converter and a th400 and steep gear? I just want to know is it making decent power for a turbo car on 7lb? I know RWHP is worthless on a stalled auto, hell my drag car only makes 450rwhp but runs 9.90s on that 450+ 150 hit
We are fighting the 2bar map sensor I think its bad, wont run on a 2 bar map with 2 bar OS..we had to just get it decent as possible to drive on the stock map, so i'm sure theres power left on the table

love the build. going against the grain and making it work.. dont need to spend a fortune to go quick. In time with a better quality turbo id bet it would go even better.

and yes you can go fast with less but who knows how long it will last. Its not the turbo holding it back, its the converter, its slipping pretty good, like 5500 through the traps in high gear in the 1/8. It does still have a 4.10 gear too, i'm sure theres more on the table without turning the boost up. More tuning, a taller gear, and ANY boost off the line would help. 2 step would work wonders. It takes off and then makes full boost about 50ft out and then runs hard as hell.

the only "bad" thing about this hotside is the pass side pipe runs under the k member, and the downpipe runs under the other side. I dont think it would clear the ground on a lowered ride. This car is stock height so its no big deal. Compromise.
We had to move the fans to the condensor side of the radiator and wire them backwards, and do some "customizing" on the shroud. Car runs perfectly cool though, and I think we can put the condensor back on the fan side of the radiator and hook the a/c back up.
So if you want a budget turbo build, there you go. Not the nicest, but you can run 6s in your full weight cam only street car with about 1,400 worth of parts
