Default UPDATE PAGE 6 !!! 402/afr/fast 102 combo Nitrous results = 8xx/8xx

UPDATE LAST PAGE I got my car tuned today and I'm pretty disappointed.. Baseline was 465/450 final numbers were 485/465. Here's the combo
402 11:5:1 compression
Afr 225s
Eps custom cam I will have to look for my cam card but the numbers are roughly .625/.634 246/251
Fast 102 with nw 102 tb
60lb injectors

The things I know that are hurting me are :
Stock pullEy
85mm maf and lid
1 3/4 longtubes with 3inch y pipe
The Texas heat... other than that I was expecting around 510.. Compression is good and the car is a 6spd with a 8.8. It does have 2:73 gears for now, I know lower gears rob a few hp but is it possible that the 2:73s are throwing the dyno off a little?

The numbers should be corrected(SAE) so that cancels out the element of heat. I would imagine an underdrive pulley, 1 7/8 long tubes and a bigger exhaust would be beneficial, especially a cutout.

The correction factors are far from perfect. You would have done better in cooler weather (even corrected). Dynos are all different too. If you have a track that is close to sea level that would be a better indicator (trap speed). Even that would be a little low due to your poor gearing. I have always been dissapointed with my dynos.

You could take you car to 5 different dyno's in your area on the same day and you will get 5 different readings, so dont get too hung up on a dyno number.

Your best method as Bill00 said and I agree 100% take it to a track and see the numbers that she it putting down. 500HP is nothing is the car runs 13.5 in the 1/4 mile.

I would also like to add, that 1 7/8 headers would help that big motor breathe.

I would think that 85mm maf is definately holding you back some. Look into a lpe 100mm maf w/ ftp 104mm lid, or sd tune...

Yea I think there are a couple things that would help me reach 500rwhp. I just assumed this was a pretty fail safe combo that would reach that goal pretty easily. The car feels strong defiantly going to put some gears in it before I waste my time taking it to the track.

thats not bad power, but its bad to only make that much power with that much camshaft imho, The Y pipe and cat back system are probably hurting your hp numbers upstairs its just a perfect example of not having the complete combination optimized, all those little bolt ons add up!

You can get there easy, Heads are proven,Cam is proven, FAST/TB are proven and 402ci. w/11.5-1 comp. is proven to perform. So what are your variables?
1) UDPulley=8hp proven
2) 104mm Lid and Eliminate the MAF/100mm MAF or SD tune= easy 10hp+
3) 1-7/8 headers and 3"duals or Merge collector into 4"single catback=priceless!!!
You gotta let that bad boy breath!
Easily 20-25 hp locked away there, even in the heat!

I dont think the numbers are really that low, theres alot of 416s that ru nabout 530hp, and you definetly have some limiting factors.

The exhaust is defintly killing you.

plus if this is a auto you are putting down good numbers. Why not go with a card maf? that is what I am doing on my build

Dynos do vary but none of the things you listed would hurt you as much as everyone here thinks. That combo should make 500 RWHP easy through a manual trans. I have more than one 383/402/408 with 1 3/4 headers and stock MAF making 500+. I NEVER use an UD pulley on a 4" stroke motor so all of my builds use no more than 10% UD. The 2.73 gears are acutally helping your numbers so that is not the issue. Can you post a graph so we can determine if your issues are valvtrain related? You have more than enough cam and head to accomplish the feat.

Just trying to help. I don't see anything on your combo that should be responsible for those numbers.

500+ here with 1-3/4's, FAST 36#'s & FAST 90/NW 90 ... there may possibly be some left in the tune. I presume it was on a DynoJet .... if it was a Mustang Dyno, the numbers are right on!

Why don't you use a UD pulley on a 4" stroke engine?

I'm also curious as to the reason. There's always something to learn!
