Livernois is a great company but, until recently they have specialized in Ford Mustangs. Greg is a Mustang guy, that is what he specializes in. He owns a Turbo Mustang. If you have a Mustang I would take it to Livernois, they are one of the best in the business for Fords. If you have a LS1 I would use us or one of the other sponsors on this board. All of us here on this board have plenty of experience with LS1's. Feel free to swing by and see our shop, we will be more than happy to show you around.
Thanks

When it comes to tune it is only Greg at Livernois he realy nows his stuff! Harlen uses greg's dyno on his car and Greg did my car and is doing it again with the new setup. Trust me go to Livernois, see the shop, and talk to Greg. He is worth every red cent!

Didnt DSW use some crap other than LS1edit? I sure hope they got that mess all figured out, my friend had problems with them(APE couldnt tune with ls1edit because gregs stuff locked onto his pcm somehow). And yes, livernois is more of a stang shop.
I use and will always use APE, Kirk is simply the best around here and knows what he is doing. Took him 1.5hrs to tune my car.

Yes he has more than LS1 edit. I don't now the names but he has more than that. I would agree that he is better at F/I. But there has been fast heads/cam and NOS cars.

I have had quite a bit of work done on a couple cars at Speedworks. I was satisfied with the work he did on my Stang so I was going to let him do the work on my Hawk.
Had him do a few basic things first time out and then setup appointment to get headers, cam and tune done. Drop car off and am told might not be able to get cam done, I leave and head home. Couple hours later I get the call nope cannot do the cam, too busy. I tell him he can keep it a couple extra days, no deal.
After this I was still willing to bring it back for the rest until I drove 2 hours home with the worst exhaust rattle you can imagine. Just poor customer service and attention to detail. I was very suprised at this as I had spent alot of money with him since he has been open.
I think Speedworks is capable of doing good work, it is just hit and miss depending on how busy they are and unless things have changed don't expect your car back on the original pickup date.

you know Its pretty sad that one shop to the north of detroit has to bash the shop south of detroit, look the bottom line is no one is fu###n perfect. everyone is human and they all make mistakes, Im sure chris has made some to and If he ever said he didnt he would be lieing. If you where to take a poll of all of gregs dyno customers and ask them if they where satisfied with his work I would damm-near bet the farm that 98% whould say they where more then satisfied with his work.I have a 2002 TRANS AM In there shop right now getting a **** load of mods done, why did I take It to LIVERNOIS ?. simple,WORD OF MOUTH. I believe greg and dan are both straight shooters they, have a top-of-the-line shop so until I see different my vote is with LIVERNOIS MOTOR SPORTS and yes they do work on LS1"s also.!!!

Livernois/Dan Millen owns a turbo Escalade, a 7.1x sec 200mph Mustang, a 660rwhp '03 KB Cobra, etc. Cars are cars people. Tuning, a heads/cam swap, or forced induction on a LS1 is Motorsports 101 for them. They do quality work and they stand behind it.
NOTE: I am not detracting from APE at all. I have heard very good things about them. I do however dislike the way they responded in this thread which prompted my reply.

Unit213, Livernois is a good shop, never said other wise. I also don't think that I was bashing them by what I said. It was the truth, they have just started getting into the LS1 world. Prior to this they did specialize in Fords. Are they capable to do good work on LS1's....most certainly. DO they have a top notch shop....you bet. The reason I suggested other sponsors if someone was not going to use us....because other sponsors pay to be on this board and promote their products and tuning. If Livernois was a sponsor here I would say go to them also. There not though and that is why I said use us one one of the other sponsors on the board. It was nothing against them or there shop.
Yellowbird, BTW, yes we have made mistakes here. Never said we didn't. No ones perfect, not even us.
It's kinda odd, a lot of you guy's that think I am bashing Livernois have mustangs. You have had good experience's with them working on your Mustang but yet you are trying to tell me they are not a Mustang specialist???
Livernois, good luck getting your LS1 program up and running, I am sure you will have some top notch stuff.

Chris- Thanks for the reply and for clearing things up a little.
Just fyi...It's been "up and running" for years. Well before Greg from DSW joined the team. It's just stronger now that he's on board.
Edit: The title of this post is "Anyone got their LS1 tuned at Livernois/Speedworks?"
The answer is yes and I believe you'll find the majority of people have had great experiences there.
I personally have my '03 Cobra tuned there and the A/F ratios are perfect across the rpm band and I get max power out of a safe tune. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I also had a '00 Z28 that went 11.50's with minimal mods that Livernois assisted with four years ago.

UNIT- Not to get in a p-match here, our tuner has almost every car he has tuned on file. He started tuning ls1 cars from 97 on for Katech, he is subcontracted by GM from time to time, he is the exclusive tuner for a supercharger company , and our tuner as well. Between cars and trucks he has tuned over 700 by the number of files of VINs in his computer. Im sure there is more since he has been tuning them for the last 7 years.
Listen, lets all just move on and drop it. There was no intended or inferred bashing on Livernois in this post. Im sure if you look at any post you can get anything from it.
And the other software that was used at detroit speed works is called "CAL-TOOL" and its a GM program.

I'd just like to reiterate that I am not affiliated with Livernois and I do not speak on their behalf. I don't want to facilitate any ill will between shops.

Greg did my first dyno tune on my H/C LS1 and the car runs great and he fatten it up just to keep it a safe tune and at Autorama I asked him if he would retune after I install my 90mm LSX intake and FAST T/B and he said since he already did the first tune he would just charge dyno time to tune it again. So I've got to say thats pretty good customer service.

Be going up to APE with a friend next Weds for tuning. I think what some folks may consider as an advantage for a forced induction tune is that Livernois uses a Mustang Dyno which tends to simulate conditions better than an inertial dyno such as the Dynojet. Not sure what APE is using, but the track is where is matters, not on the dyno
