Risk of dyno tune?
My buddy told me that my 99 formula is " to old and has to many miles on it" to get it tuned, he said the engine would blow. I have 120xxx miles on the car. Is this true or his he full of it? Mods are pacesetter long tubes and cat back( being put on next week, then I'll be getting the car tuned) thanks guys

does it run good? burn oil? clatter? if not run it. i had a 2000 t/a with a procharger and full exhaust tuned two weeks ago. had 197,000 on it. not saying yours isnt gonna blow up, but i doubt it. i mean brand new engines blow up sometimes.

Mine was tuned @ 115k. Made 341/357 with bolt ons and stock ls1 intake. Since then, the car has seen 6k+ rpms almost on a daily basis. 50+ 1/4 mile passes. Ran mid 12s on street tires. Autocross. You name it. How many miles it has doesnt mean sh*t as long as its been maintained.

rofl, you can blow an engine on the dyno with 4 miles on it. His argument holds no water. Is he some sort of psychic that can tell the future and say for sure your engine will blow?

Only can repeat what's already been said. Anything can happen. But, the good part is, these motors are very durable, and long lasting. It's rare to have a failure. I've seen very, very few out of literally thousands of cars run on the dyno.

your buddy is a idiot, and probably has some jelousy towards your car making a statment like that.
drive it however you want bro, theres always a chance of ANY motor letting go any any time. the best part about ls1s is if it blow it you can get another one pretty cheep

Getting it tuned on the street or on a dyno isnt any harder on it that running the crap out of it everyday without having a proper tune for your mods...get it tuned after your mods for sure if you want to maximize your results from the mods. Dont listen to dumbshits like your "friend" who think they know more than they really do.
