removing A/C

has anyone done it...if so how much power did you free up?

i removed it to do the cam and just took the rest of it out. its not good for any noticeable power gains, maby a horse. but it takes a good 30lbs off the front of the car.

It shouldn't cost anything because at full throttle, the compressor clutch releases and basically is free spinning. You may gain .05 hp, but nothing measureable, IMO.

yea, 3 less pulleys are worth a lil friction, but like you said, not measureable. do it more for the weight

I did change my cam without bleeding the A/C. I just pushed the AC condensor out of the way and installed that cam.

I dynoed back to back with A/C in the loop and with it out of the loop (I have one continuous serpentine belt on my set-up) and it was only 1 RWHP different!
