Default wtf...question about tunin

Ok i put my car at my buddies shop to get my car tuned after the long tube install. My car had already run a little rich from the dealer when i got it. So i figured it would only go richer....so they put it on the dyno...did a few pulls just to see where it was at before the tune, it made 331 which i was happy with. and i guess they hook it up to a computer im not really sure cause this is kinda of hear-say from speaking to them on the phone, but they said my a/f was nearly perfect, "ever so slightly rich" but he said with nitrous thats not a bad thing and it wouldn't hurt performance enough to worry about. They said about the only thing they could change with the tune was remove my rear 02 sensors and up the WOT psi by 1-2psi? im stupid when it comes to this ****...it just doesnt seem right to me...does this mean id be fine without a tune? right now as it stands i dont owe them any money. So id still have to pay the 550 for the tune even if its just what they said...is it really worth it or should i just leave it as is?

confused here can anyone shed light...i may have forgotten to add something else but i will get more info when i go to see them this evening. Thanks fellas
Travis

I feel its always worth to get the car tuned , I had my car tuned and they squeeked out another 12hp and 10fts of torque, and there wasnt a doubt in my mind after the tune that I can spray it and it would be fine.

But if you dont have the money then run with it.

i have the money, i was planning on doing this...but if its not goign to net me much of an improvement i dont see the point...

mostly i would want to know if anyone else has had something like this...not that im complaining cause its running better than it was obviously but its running even more smoothly ....and after this news im kinda left scratchin my head...how much hp could possibly be gained from 1-2psi at wot ? can they even change that in a tune or am i having my nuts pulled?

WOT by 1-2psi??WTF are they talking about, the nitrous? I dont know anything about nitrous but edit shouldn't have any effect on its PSI. If your AF is good I wouldnt have them tune it. Did they run the car on your 100 shot and log it to make sure your A/F stays good and that you get no knock? You can get the OBD-II plugs for the rear 02's and save alot of money. Alot of people say they gain 10-20HP from tuning but thats only if they were running rich to begin with or have a 2001+ car that comes with lower timing. Letting a car cool down alone can net you 7-10HP. At least the shop gave you a choice in the matter and didnt just do it and charge you $550 for basically nothing.

yeah these are friends of mine so i know they aren't out to screw me. he did do 2 pulls on the juice. he called me because he was suprised it was running so close to perfect. Almost like i didnt touch the car. im not sure about the psi part but he was kind of thinking out loud...on how he could actually tune it to give me some type of gain. he was basically telling me not to touch it cause its running fine. but he was also telling me if i wanted to have it tuned the few things he coudl do. I already have simms so i told him it was a no go anyways on the deletion of the rear o2's.

basically out of everything he didn't give me any numbers but he told me i was "ever so slightly rich"...but apparently weren't the 98-99 cars made to run a bit more rich than the 00-02's anyways? i would think with a bit larger injectors that would make it run slightly more rich (considering the less air flow with the ls1 intake vs the ls6 intake)...correct me if im wrong please...

in all im happy that i dont have to get tuning, thats 500 bones i can put towards a cam in the future
thanks for teh replies i think i've found my answer.
