Default 2013 ZL1 Dyno: 535 rwhp Bone Stock

I bought a 2013 ZL1 in August and finally dyno'd it after I completed the 1500 mile breakin period in late October. I dyno'd at Hi Tech which is a local shop near my house. It's a Dynojet 248.

I would have been happy with anything over 500 rwhp, but I was pleasantly surprised by the numbers; especially the second run. All numbers are SAE corrected. It's a manual car and is 100% bone stock. I use BP 93 octane gas which has 10% Ethanol.

- Run 1 was done fully heat soaked right off the street. Pull up, strap down the car and go. We didn't datalog that run, but the ECT was around 199 F and we saw some KR. 511 rwhp and 501 tq.

- Run 2 was done after a cool down period and we did datalog this run. I included a screen shot below. ECT was lower and there was no or very little KR during the run. I was surprised to see 25 degrees of advance at WOT from the factory on this motor.

I will have to wait to hit the track until Spring as all of the tracks are closed up here.

On the Dyno and ready to go

Great numbers congrats man..
The numbers are around 520-525rwhp the 535rwhp is from hitting the rev limiter you can see the jump at 6200rpm but still very stout for stock car ...

I'm sure with only tune and moving the Limiter to 6400-6500rpm you'll gain another 15-20rwhp
Any mods planned?

It's 100%. The default pid used to log tps for a newer ETC vehicle is 83% at WOT and 15% at idle.

I just had the red GM test mule that MotorTrend used in their tests on my dyno dynamics and it laid down 458rwhp. I could see a slight increase in power from a tune stock but not much considering they are really agressive with timing already in the stock calibration.

OP Killer results!!

Default Stock ZL1 (minus cats) 552 RWHP

I know people will say that technically my ZL1 is not stock but only the cats have been removed. I've talked to a few good tuners who say that removing the cats really doesn't gain you that much horsepower. Anyway, for what its worth, Brenton Brown just tuned my 2013 ZL1 (minus cats) and got 552 RWHP. I'd like to see what he could do with one with the cats still on, if there were any takers I am sure he'd embrace the opportunity! LOL But surely just taking off the cats isn't worth 17 hp (535 is the best legit claim I have seen so far for stock ZL1).

Below is the video of the final pull that we did yesterday, done on a brand new Dynojet 424Linx, look at that air/fuel line!

Your car does not qualify as stock to me. Your numbers are also STD not SAE which is the industry standard. SAE numbers your probably making 535-540 rwhp.

Thanks man, Brenton does a great job, he takes his time and is meticulous about getting the air/fuel spot on. The car runs better than it ever has and sounds a lot better too. Its even getting better fuel economy!

Like I said, technically its not stock but you can judge how much a cat delete is worth. Good point about the STD vs SAE. Hopefully Brenton will get an opportunity to do a ZL1 with CATS still in tact and report both STD and SAE numbers. But even if its only 540 RWHP SAE I still think its darn good that he can get at least 50 extra horses out of the ZL1 with just a tune alone.

STD is 4% higher than SAE. Its easy to go from one to the other no matter which graph is posted.
