Finally took the 4000# hog to Piedmont last night (my local 1/8th mile track) ... as the night went on I eventually pulled my head from my *** ... have not mounted the Hoosier Drag radials yet but went out on my Firestone Wide Oval Indy 500 street tires ...
RT and 60' were not good at all but I was just trying to get some shakedown runs in and have fun but eventually went from my 1st pass of 9.0 @91 mph spinning 1st,2nd and finally 3rd just past the 330' down to a decent 7.76 @ 96.8 mph in the 1/8th.
Nothing to write home about but if i can can get my 60' down to 1.9 or 1.8 i could run a 7.60 or high 7.50 on the Firestone tire then Im gonna toss the drag radials on. Id expect in a month or so the Trick Flows will be on and then Ill see what dyno and track differences there are.
Bottom line I had a lot of fun even though launching was a pain on street tires trying to slip the clutch. First time down the track since 1994 and it was a blast.

What I don't understand is how his torque goes from peaking at 4600rpm and horsepower peaking at 5900rpm to his torque peaking at 5400rpm and horsepower peaking at 5900rpm? I have never seen a motor with the CSA his does, with a long runner fast intake/stock style intake on it have a torque peak of 5400rpm and a hp peak of 5900rpm. Something is going on there, not sure what though.

Like I told you when you texted me last night Mike, great job! The DR's will help considerably when you do go back.

Mike's test won't truly be back to back as I instructed Mike to raise the compression at the same time we swap the heads by going to a thinner gasket than he was running. Compression will be higher and quench distance will be decreased.

True we are going to bump the compression some... It will have the same cam though with no alterations to installation...we"ll be pretty close to back to back.
going from 11.8:1 to 12.20:1
Since I am .006" out of the hole will .040" be enough or should I get .045" to be on the safe side?? I think with .045" that still has me at 12.05:1 or someting like that...

Mike,

I like to see quench in the .035-.040 range for N/A motors. You'll be fine with a .040" IMO.

Default Awesome

weldermike27408 awesome ride and combination sir. After reading this thread I can await the day my combo comes to life. I really hope my 416 for my GTO performs this well. As for Martin at Tick your impeccable attention to every little detail is a job well done. GTOFTW!!
