Default You will not believe this...

I just wanted to share my experience today with a tuning shop today.... I payed $80 to do three dyno runs just to see where my car is at. My car is a ls1 A4 with longtubes, ORY pipe, slp loudmouth 1 catback, 3.73 gears, fast toys ram air, kn airfilter, smooth bellows, diablosport tuned, electric cutout and slp airlid. Basically almost full bolt ons.

I am at 4,000 elevation and run 13.5s up here (mid to low 12s at sea level) at this elevation (stock ls1s run high 14s here). I went to go get the car dynoed today and guess what i put down? You will not believe it....

A whopping 149rwhp.... Thats right. I told the guy that was way off than what it is suppose to be and he kept on insisting to me that it was right and kept trying to sell me one of his dyno tunes. He ran my car 2 more times and got just about the same numbers.... Then he told me that it was dynoing less cause the car was hot (even though it was like 60 degrees outside). And engine heat cannot possibly cause the engine to lose like 180 hp lol.

Here's the catch. Back when i was stock, i got the car dynoed and it made 290rwhp on that same exact dyno. I told this guy that but he just kept on insisting that i needed a dyno tune from them and it'll make me regain all that loss hp. Nonetheless i am never going back there again. Just needed to rant a little bit....

WOW! Yeah sounds like that company is out to scam you. You'd probably dyno more than that on 5 cylinders. Take the car to a reputable shop.

Are you sure you were in third gear when dynoing the car? My car dynoed low because I was in second the first time lol

I am afraid I would insist on a refund. You paid for an accurate dyno and it surely sounds like you did not get what you paid for. I would ask for a refund and tell him to call you when he gets it re-calibrated.

pull the badges, get a printout of the sheet...tell everyone its a V6...and you have the dyno graph to prove it...

now get out there and make some money!

Yeah he dynoed it in third and in fourth..... Also it was a Dynojet so i couldn't even possibly be right since those dyno the highest numbers.... I go and try to get a refund cause those runs were bullshit..... And zacht, haha that sounds like a good idea... and i did tell him those are bogus numbers for a ls1 lol. But they didn't even tell me the air/fuel ratio while it was running cause they stated it was broken..... So i just got back from a reputable shop and it turns out that i am running extremely lean right now.... 15.5 or something like that. I got it dynoed there and it made 268 rwhp on a dynojet as well.... I really need to get that ratio fixed so i am going to go back and have them tune it for me because running that lean is worrying me a lot now.... I am guessing running that lean is robbing me of a lot of power...?

Sounds like you may have some other problems going on as well. 268 is still low for an AFR of 15.5 IMO

Check plugs, wires, and injector connection. Maybe your MAF is crapping out? I have seen someone lose over 60rwhp from a super dirty MAF.

Someone should be able to use LS1edit or HPtuners to find out whats causing the problem.

268 is low with those mods. Sounds like something is wrong.

Yeah its really weird for it to be that low... lower than stock.... Im going to start checking if everything is okay, going to do a fuel pressure test, compression test, and check all those things that briansformula recommended. Thanks for the responses as well, hopefully it isn't something really bad.... :/ gotta get her up and running strong again.... The shop i went to has hp tuners, so i might just go there after i check everything else.... He told me the optimal AFR is 13.0 so that is what i will be shooting for hopefully if everything turns out okay.

Wow...who did you take it to Mbueno? Evolution?
My car dead stock(almost is still)made 292hp and 319ft/lbs if I remember correctly and with a lid and GMMG catback(no dyno) I have run a best of 13.74...sounds like your being screwed man.
There are things being done to remedy the tuning problem in El Paso and shop problem. Hoping the coming year.
