How much to be gained with cutouts?

Default How much to be gained with cutouts?

I realize this questions answer will vary with different applications. But what have people gained on here by doing cutouts power wise on the dyno?

I have a FI car pushing 695 RWHP ran through a full exhaust, and wonder what I would gain by doing dual cutouts just behind the headers.

I gained 10rwhp and 6rwtq at nearly EVERY point on the graph opening my 3" cutout. I had it located just before the over axle pipe to the crappy Flowmaster 80 series.

I've since changed the exhaust to Flowmaster 3" into 4" Y-pipe and now a 4" dump.

should move this to the FI section. i know one guy saying he picked up like 75 on a turbo car

Yeah, I almost posted this over there. If anyone is a mod and sees this, feel free to move it for me.

I'm no expert, but I think a turbo car would gain a bit more. They would be much more restricted by exhaust than a blower and should also make more boost (which exponentially would make more additional power). I don't think a supercharged setup would probably yield the same results.

However, I do believe the gains should be directly proportional to how much air a given combo is pushing and restricted by the existing exhaust. Any high HP FI car should make larger gains than even a stout NA car.

I would love to see someone with a high 6XX RWHP blower car to step in and have some results for comparison purposes.

18whp, 6wtq on my car. I have a stock SLP CME, maxed out 346 NA car, cutout just before the OTA pipe.

my car with 3" duals still picks up a tenth and MPH with the cutouts open

Don't know dyno difference, but cutout open in I pipe its a solid tenth and 1mph in the quarter over my TSP rumbler catback
