A common question we get during our 5th gen 4L80e swaps is how much power the 4L80e will zap after changing from the 6L80e...the answer is - nothing discernible!

This 2010 Camaro's 6L80e wasn't doing so hot after a couple years of running around stealthily cammed, with a Whipple on top of it. We sought out RPM's Level 5 4L80e along with quality parts from Precision Industries, Driveshaft shop, and TCI to complete the build.

The first pulls with the transmission yielded the same power as when we initially tuned the car a couple of years ago. Feeling better with the beefier transmission, we played with the tune a bit more to pick up some additional ponies (it was on the dyno, might as well right?) Wrapped up at 670rwhp. Car feels awesome with the four speed!

I wonder how much the 6L80 gives up on the dyno with the 1.15 4th gear versus the 1.00 ratio of the 4L80? Did you notice any weight difference? By the way thanks for the information as these things are sometimes hard to come by.
Also does the car have any track time with the 6L80? I would like to see the difference with the 4L80 if there is any.

Unless the car makes 4 digits, they're usually faster with the 6L since it has a great first gear to launch the heavy camaros. Once they make real power, that first gear is useless and beyond the limit of good tires, and the superior ratios and less gears of the 4L win.
