Default Dyno results big let down

I only pulled 382hp at 6500rpm. I figured I would have pulled well over 400 with what I have done to my car. What am I missing here.

6.0(LQ9)
Milled 6.0 heads
MS4 cam
Fast 92mm intake
42# injectors
Nick Williams 92mm TB
GM 85mm MAF
SLP cold air
Kooks Lt headers
Full 3" exhaust
Magnaflow single 3" in and single 3" out
Yank 4000 stall
Custom tune
Car weighs 3500# with me in it

What was the a/f and timing? Did your tuner have anything to say?

What type of dyno? A mustang dyno reads much lower than a dynojet.

If that is a dynojet HP result... That is low.

I just pulled 365 rwhp with a 228r, ls6 intake and stock TB and stock heads. Auto tranny.

Timing was set at 28 degrees and 12.7 afr. He said his dyno reads about 15 to 20 lower than others but still seemed low to me. It's a Dynojet 248 chassis dyno

Best thing to do is run it at the track. See what it ETs and what it's MPH is. Autos are definitely dyno heart breakers. Also were these locked or unlocked numbers?

Well they both sound good, so it's not that. When I did my LQ9 with all new forged internals it made 420 rwhp on a Mustang dyno with mods in sig. That's with 11.5:1 too. Way low for my mods IMO. Now two things to note here...engine is brand new, and will break in over time, thus making more power. Secondly, the dyno I was on reads 20-30 hp lower than most Dynojet dynos in the area. So combine those two factors together it probably would see 450-475 rwhp on a Dynojet. Bottom line....don't worry about those numbers just yet

Any dyno graph? Maybe unlocked converter? What gears?

That Yank 4000 torque converter is not helping you out on the chasis dyno. High rpm converters and chasis dyno's to not mix if you are looking for a horsepower number.

Our car club would have dyno sessions and I would always have guys dynoing higher than me with my Yank SS4000 converter. However when we had track days my car was the fastest. This is a classic case of take it to the track and see what it does. Then go from there.

Okay, I will just worry about track times then. I had heard also that the stall and the 2:73 gears I have would give false numbers too, not sure if that's true or not. Have eaton locker with 4:10 gears just was waiting on till I got some new axles. Are you referring to converter locked or unlocked? I have TCC solenoid code P0740 so I am guessing it's staying locked. Thanks for info HCI2000SS that helps understand a good bit.

If you were a manual trans I'd worry more but a high stall auto unlocked like said above the track will tell more, they always WAY under dyno for how they perform

If you have an active code it might not be running at its full potential.

I pulled pan down and replaced TCC solenoid and still had code that's when I found out there are two of them in there. I just haven't felt like dropping that pan again and making a mess. It's one of those nasty a$$ jobs you put off and put off. I just hope I'm not wasting all my time on this code and it be a non locking converter. I assumed it was a lock up converter when I got it but when I saw code I asked guy I got it from and he wasn't sure. Gggggrrrrr!!!!!

You def should have. we just dyno'ed a 93 z28 with 6.0 truck swap with ms3 cam fast intake stock rear t56 317 untouched heads... on our dyno-jet made 412whp... tach wasn't working good so tq is unknown. you are making less than what i am making on a ls6 top end swap. something in timing or a/f is WAAAAAY off. you need to get that looked at asap before you fry your motor if its too lean on WOT. for real real dude.

btw... the guys lsx 93 said his tune was done in the driveway and not on the dyno to really see improvements in rpms and where its hurting in rpms. I bet if we dyno tuned it he would find some extra hp and better gas mileage.

What was your injector duty cycle? I see no fuel system mods except for injectors in your list.

Probably another fail on dyno results. Hit the track.
