i believe those #'s, my local tuner drm had a 427 vette that baselined aprox 445 and with cam only put down 505 on a dynajet (as i watched) right when they first came out so im sure cams are better today for max performance. great #'s! dear santa , all i want for christmas is a bigger motor!

I see it has 12.5 degrees of overlap, thats why I am asking.

Thanks, Best.

Customer claims it drives like the factory camshaft. I'm sure the tuning that Northshore Speed did helps a lot with that.

Martin,

In reguards to your bottom comments on post 18 ( not getting "quote" function)

Why are you muddying up your thread with logical wrenching ? LOL.
How is this cam that you spec'd compared to some of your other popular LS7 cams? ( i.e. polluter )

What did this make SAE corrected? Just curious. See everyone posting uncorrected numbers lately.

Love the cam spec. Seriously... people throw way to much at this engines. Cam is "similar" to the GM stage 3 just with a street-friendly lobe split.

With that, Though I agree with you 110% about dyno's... the before/after is what's REALLY important.... the bolt-on numbers for this car on YOUR dyno are down compared to what i've personally seen with my car, multiple dyno's, varying weather conditions.

No matter, the gains with the cam is fantastic! How much overlap does that cam have? What does she like to idle at?

Do you happen to have an idle clip?? Would like to see how docile this cam is.

Don't want to name any names but there are cams that are stupid big, very choppy and still only make 550rwhp. The trend then moved to increasing the CR and adding E85 for it to behave but still most seem under engineered and over hyped.

The goal for the LS7 is 600rwhp and some folks just think a HUGE cam that idles like crap is going to get them there. Dyno tricks, E85/13.1 CR, and more overlap than you can shake a stick at later it's not working for them.

There are few cams out there for the LS7 that make sense. Some are street cams that yield 550-570rwhp, cam-only or with heads, and some hit 580-600rwhp with a tad more into the grind. And then there are some that are mild street cams that yield 520-530rwhp.

Cam has 12.5 degrees overlap @.050" lobe lift. I believe they have this car idling at 750rpm and it's pulling roughly 52-53kpa there. Very docile.

If you go to NorthShore Speed's Facebook page, this Z06 is on there with a few idle clips.

Impressed. Should drive like a dream compared to some of the other cams out there.

thank you!

EDIT: Maybe i missed it but did the car have a tune with the bolt-ons?

Yes it did have a tune.

When the bolt on numbers from the base line were reported to me I figured we had a dud on our hands and it would struggle to make 500rwhp.

Don't blame you!

The gains are, again, fantastic however what makes this a step up is the potential of how docile this car will drive around town. I saw the idle clip and she sounds good.

The gains were across the boards... perhaps the previous tune was more on the conservative side??

Like others in this thread something seems amiss. Esp at such a low altitude.

Normally if the tune is very rich or low on timing it will be easy to see in the graph. The line will be extremely jagged. Power will peak earlier than it should.

I don't see that in this base line graph. For whatever reason if it could of benefited from additional timing or fueling tweaks there couldn't possibly be that much power hiding there.

If it pulled 450-460 we're still talking about a 70-80rwhp gain from a cam with 12.5 degrees of overlap that drives very close to stock in a 427 cubic inch engine. Beat the stock cam everywhere under the curve. I'm sure it's an extremely fun car to drive.
