243 heads are 10.5:1 on an LS1 with stock head gaskets, and milled 0.020 would put it about 10.8:1.
Unless specified, AI cuts the chambers quite a bit and then mills back to original chamber size. So if anything, 0.020 milled heads end up with 66-67cc chambers which match his statement that the compression ratio is "pretty close to stock"...thus nowhere near 10.8:1.

Not doubting the numbers, just really surprised at the results from such a "basic" build.

A setup similar to this using TEA 5.3 heads is being talked about in internal right now when Damian did it.

I think you have a very well thought out combonation OP. I would love to see what it traps.

The only thing that makes me suspect is the low compression ratio.

Very nice results. Where have you been hiding and why haven't I seen you out and about?! Who did the build?

I can vouch that this dyno isn't known for throwing out huge numbers.

I had a similar setup tuned by the same guy on the same dyno. Made 480/435 and ran 11.70 @124 with a 2.1 60ft. I had 243's done by TEA with 59cc. So I believe the numbers and you should see some good traps!!

It's working great! Very happy with it--just not having to use a damn puller to remove it is worth it. I removed the factory coolant/PS fluid heat exchanger and put a little PS intercooler down behind the air dam. No more PS fluid mist or leaking out of the cap into the engine bay.

That is almost word-for-word what Jeremy Formato (the tuner) said. He was very impressed with the cam's power after 6000.

Haha I'm hiding down in St. Pete. I used to live up in Tampa and I still hang out with the F-body Inc. guys from time to time. Ever heard of that group?

And the build was just me and a friend...and LS1howto.com

Any idea what lobes the cam uses? Is it a comp grind?

It is an Advanced Induction one-off custom grind, no Comp Cam grind.

I understand that. Let me ask a different way, who grinds AI cams?

Pretty sure it is Comp. AI does put all their cams on a cam doctor and sends you the report with the cam.

When I asked Phil this question his response was vague. He said they have many different companies they use to grind their cams, nothing specific at all.

There are only a handful of companies that grind cams; Comp, Cam Motion, Lunati, Isky, Crane, etc. I know Ed Curtis will use whoever can get done what he's wanting in regards to lobe design/profile. I'm sure Phil is the same way.

I think that's right--my custom grind was taking longer than Phil wanted so he mentioned sending the profile to another machine shop "as a backup."
