Default Lightly modded A4 T/A

I dynoed my car last night and was kind of disappointed with the numbers I got. My car is 99 T/A with lid, bellows, loudmouth, powershot filter, Yank ST3500 stall with a built tranny, and has basic suspension work done. I dynoed on a dynojet and only came up with 293HPand 293TQ with air/fuel at 13. do these seem like unusually low numbers??? Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like that's right in line with other A4s with similar mods. The auto cars (like mine)don't put as much power to the wheels according to the dyno.

We do go pretty damn quick for such "low" numbers though.
If you want big numbers on the dyno get a six-speed.

good luck

It's no dyno queen by any means. I am building the car for numbers at the track not the dyno. I guess it is nice to be in the12 second quarter mile zone with less than 300 to the wheels. Thanks for helping me out I was just curious mainly because my first time to ever dyno my car or any car for that matter

290rwhp and 316rwtq with my mods in sig. You aren't the only one with bad numbers.

Those numbers are fine for a 1999. An LS6 intake and a few bolt ons will really wake it up.

I dynoed 311/333 with my 99 with headers, pulley, lid ,filter, ftra, and tci 2800 converter with 273s , but my car ran 12.40s at 110mph in the 1/4 so you seem right on to me.

I will agree. The numbers seem fine. With a sticky time and the converter you have you should run mid 12's.
Seeing that you are in Tampa and Bradenton is a good track running good times should be no problem unless it is 100+ degrees out.
BTW I ran 11.7 with the same converter while only making 360 RWHP and 380 Torque.
I am full weight and weight right at 200 lbs myself.
Run a good time and whoop some M6 ***.

Mine was only putting down 310/330 the last time I dynoed it with LT's/catted y-pipe/4"mufflex and the mods listed in my sig. Your numbers look fine to me.

just dynod mine today at the midwest meet, I was pissed off about the torque I still cant believe it! 282!282! what is that, they kept tryin over and over, i musta been the only one there with a high stall non lock up tranny. I dont care what anyone says 282 is way low, but I guess that was the best they could do under the circumstances. Is it true that 273 cars need to be dynod in 2nd? They did mine 3or 4 times, and the guy was like "do you have a different converter?" I was like yeah, so they did it the last time and it was 304.1/282.8, wtf I run 12s all damn day!! I can beat my friends 02 who dynod 335/357, something doesnt seem right, it was a mustang dyno but still....damn.

Default Gmhtp A4 99 Ta

Has anyone read the GMHTP mags where they take a 99 A4 TA with 3.23s? The baseline dyno was 292/299 they averaged a 13.45 on 3 runs with a best of 13.36. Then they did free mods and picked up 10hp/8ft lbs. After the mods they averaged 13.40 on 3 runs with a best of 13.38 at 26 degrees hotter. Then they did boltons, and picked up another 8.1hp/6.7ft lbs, then they did headers+loadmouth catback and LS6 intake. It then made 347.4hp and 347.1 ft lbs, and averaged 12.9s with a best of 12.85. Sorry that was Long winded, just thought it was interesting. I'm Out!!

I have damn near all the free-mods. Plus a a lid/filter,Headers,ypipe,no cats, basically a bullet muffler after that. And I came no-where even close to those numbers, I know my torque converter didnt lock up, but damn 282lbs of torque?!!!! No way, no way. I run 12.65, 12.7s all day long. Goin off of other peoples cars, no-way I have under 300tq at the wheels, i just cant see it.

Default What Gear

What gear did you dyno in? I have a 2000 A4 TA with 3.23s and I did 290/295 in 2nd gear with just a lid+filter. The Dyno had no big fan providing air either (I know that's bad, but it was my first time), plus I have a BG Ram Air system with a custom rainblocker in that has a 1 square inch hole for air to come in(I forgot to take it out, it was raining) which didn't help either. I've heard you dyno between 8 -10 hp from 2nd to 3rd gear and that the "Big" fan provides about 10 hp. I don't know about that, but, given those conditions I should have been around 305-310hp with lid+filter. Anywho, times are all that matters, right? Maybe the TC is a little screwy. Those times are strong though.

You need to dyno in 3RD gear, that is the 1:1 gear for autos.
