Correct gear for dyno power run

Iam after some opinions from you more experienced dyno guys, when i do a power run in manual cars i use 4th gear cause its 1:1 ratio, thats how i was taught, anyway a friends car l76/t56 combo got dynoed and the operator did the power run in 5th gear, is this common practice? I assume the horsepower and torque will be lower using 5th gear? So the readout isnt that accurate

4th gear 1:1 is correct. Doing a pull in fifth gear is a good way to pre-detonate an engine if WOT pull is started below say 5K RPM.
