Default AS 5.3 heads and Comp 224 cam

Jays 5.3 heads with Comp 224 581 114 cam.
YT rockers, CompR lifters, 78mm tb and ported intake.
These are running through TPIS headers, RT Cats and open cutout with an ASP pulley
393.9 rwhp 372 rwtq.
I don't have a scanner to post the graph but the a/f is at 12.5
These were installed and tuned by ARE.
I must say that I am dissapointed.

My brother has the RT cats on his LT1 car and bypassing them didn't gain him much.. they flow very good. Did you try to lean the A/F out any past 12.5:1? Those numbers are really off for the mods you have. Were your heads milled any? You may have a preload problem with those comp R lifters.

The cutout is mounted very far back because I run it open most of the time. I can't see how there could be much restriction with the cats. You can look right through them. This is an M6 car with stock rear and gears.
When I told ARE that I thought that the numbers were low they told me that I was 15hp up on another stage 2/ 224 cammed car from another very popular sponsor.
Maybe I'll try another dyno if I get a chance.
As far as any other boltons, I don't know what I'm missing other than the tb bypass. I'm also running a 160 deg therm.

There must be somthing wrong... I made close to that with a cam only and all of the bolt on's thru a 12 bolt with 4.10 gears as well.. I have his stage II 4.8 heads that are on now and wil be poasting up his #'s by next week as well.. Hope that my dyno is all corrected..

Good luck

I'm gonna bet that your CompR lifters are not set up correctly ... make sure you double check them ... Didn't someone else on here post that Jay (and the shims that were sent) didn't have these set up with the correct preload or something?

just a thought ..

Dont go too nuts changing things. I made 410 and 368 TQ with AS 5.3 and a 232/232 .57x cam. That was through cats and the borla closed. I also have a 12-bolt with 4.11 gears. Jay was willing to check out my car but I want to get it dynoed with the borla uncapped and possibly a track run in to see the MPH.

Comp 978's
Since Orange Juice is running the comp R's, I bet he has the 977's. I still have stock lifters.

Crowley you have nothing to worry about. My car never dynoed high and it has been though a few heads and cams.

11.9 something in street trim @ 119.4 MPH....That was on the old JPR setup that lasted about 400 miles. The ram clutch in there had issues too (you couldn't power shift).

Don't know where to start. When the car was originally tuned ARE found that there was a leak in the ported intake. They patched it up and tuned the car. This problem ocurred again and I patched again with some epoxy putty and went to the track. Not good, My best run was a 12.90 at 112. I was going to just try and patch the crack from the inside but decided not to and pulled the intake off and will put the stock one back on. Since I was that far I pulled the valve cover off of one side and rotated the motor to see the amount of play in the rockers. I know that this is always a concern when using compR's. I couldn't get any play in the rockers. I rotated the assembly and kept checking. I tryed reaching around and rotating the pushrods but didn't have much success.
I am no mechanic, I have some basic knowledge which I picked up here, But that's about it. I left a message with Jay on friday but havn't heard back.
On top of all this the ATI super damper didn't fit. The center hub is too large.
About the only possitive thing was the 2 part timing cover that I bought. ARE was quite impressed with the fit. Thanks Walt.
