Default Ls2 lacking power?

I have a 2004 Gto with a 2005 Gto ls2 in it. It has Dynatech long tubes, catless, flowmasters along with 3 inch piping all the way back, btr stage 3 cam, fast 102, nick williams 102 tb, and a varam intake. It put 432/400 to the wheels. I feel like that's a little low. By what I could find on here a lot of people put 470 with a cam and intake. If you have a cammed ls2 please let me know what you make.

mine made 418 rwhp through an automatic with unlocked stall with:

ported 799 heads
230/238 cam
longtubes, 3" duals
Fast 90mm intake (mild port)
underdrive pulley

I have serious doubts of making an honest 470rwhp with stock heads. A LS2 will make similar power to a LS6 if the same heads/cam are used...the cubes allow you to run better flowing heads/cam and still have good manners, the small jump from 5.7 to 6.0 in itself is not going to give you a large HP gain but it will help torque and move the powerband down.

As expected your car makes a little more power (10-15hp) than a 243 headed ls1/ls6 but about 20-30 more ft/lbs rwtq.

It takes a very well optimized and thought out combo to get 470-500rwhp from a 5.7-6.0 shortblock. There are ringers and generous dynos of course, but I'm talking averages.

I think those numbers are pretty good, especially if you're an auto.

I wouldn't really think that a cam only LS2 is truly around 470 unless it's a monster cam with all other supporting mods. Most likely what you are seeing with those kinds of numbers are either loose dynos or STD corrections.

I agree, nothing wrong with those numbers at all. You ain't touching 470 rwhp with stock 243's in a NA setup. Time for some ported heads.

There's some cat in the dyno section claiming he's making 525rwhp with stock 243s...in a 346 no less. But that's a story for another day lol.

exhaust fumes in a closed room?

There was a high altitude kid that claimed (with dyno as evidence but no time slip) his little WRX put down something north of 800awhp. Did it on oxygenated E85 using a gracious dyno pushing the tune to the brink without correction.

Not sure what happened to that one after it TRIED to make a pass and puked the driveline onto the track. Maybe they know each other.

That is Vetteboy...he runs 9's with a cam only Ls6 supposedly makes 525whp. The thread topic is about making 575+ whp from a 346 with a plastic intake and hydraulic cam.

^^^yup

I think op's numbers are a bit low. We make similar power with my #s converted to dyno jet numbers. And it's a bolt on ls6. A cammed ls2 should do better than me.

You make 432rwhp with a bolt on LS6

Is one of those bolt-ons a magnacharger?

No magnacharger needed. Be the wrong blower anyway.

Yea if it was on a dyno jet it would make around that. Those numbers are through a 10bolt and it has a 9" now so that could hold it back a little. But i also making a few changes to what i am hoping will result in more power.
