Default Untouched 2005 LQ4 with just a cam

My future plans are to turbo my Lq4 but for now I'm naturally aspirated and running a Btr/LJMS stage 2 turbo cam ground on an 8620 core by Cam Motion.

Truck 85 mm Maf.
Stock truck/van intake and 78 mm throttle body. 36 lb injectors (80.7% duty cycle at max power). Hedman hustler mid length headers, 1-3/4" primaries and 3" collectors. 2.5 " mandrel bent dual exhaust with an x-pipe and Borla proXS mufflers.
4 " intake to a BBK 1741 air filter.
Ngk tr55IX plugs gapped to 0.052".
Heads are untouched except for a trunion upgrade to the rockers and BTR dual valve springs.

TH400 with heavy duty sprag, fti 2800-3200 rpm converter, 8.8 with Auburn diff.

370 rwhp
347 ft lbs of torque.
Dyno jet 224
Ignition advance is 25° from 3000 to 4800 rpm, 28° from 5200 rpm to 6500 rpm. Too much timing around peak torque is killing some torque but I ran out of dyno time to play with the torque range. On the next dyno appointment I'll play with it.

Before the cam and headers but on stock exhaust manifolds and with a frost mail order tune, on the same dyno it made

302 rwhp
307 rwtrq

I didn't tune for max torque as I was focused on 5000 rpm+ for the most rwhp but I think there may be 10 to 15 rear wheel torque left. Not bad for having a 9.4:1 CR

Who did the current tune? I am running the same cam N/A so far, and I have to say so far I really like it, and think it will be amazing with boost.

I have been doing the tuning from the start. Next time I'm on the dyno I think I can gain more torque from less timing from 4400-4800 rpm.
Yeah it's pretty neat how it allows some fun off/before boost.

Very nice gains with just a 226/231 cam and some 1.75" mid-length headers. Definitely keep us updated as you iron out the tune.

Thank you and the way I look at it is that everything goes with my future plans of a single turbo setup so for this turbo cam and 9.4:1 compression ratio with my 317 heads, any decent naturally aspirated results are a huge bonus. Nothing is currently catered to making as much naturally aspirated power as possible. I have cheap mid length headers, a btr stage 2 turbo cam, low compression, stock truck intake and throttle body, power steering pump, 2.5 inch xpiped dual exhaust, all going through a 1987 th400 with straight cut gears and a heavy duty sprag...I'm guessing the driveline loss is much more than 20% but even at 20 that's around 463 hp at the motor

Did a retune on a larger air filter (bbk #1746 versus my former bbk #1741). Timing was 22 degrees at the 4400 and 4800 rpm cell and 29 degrees from 5200 rpm till 6600 rpm. Found that richer at peak torque and below and leaner from 5200+ rpm worked well.

Did 370 rwhp and 347 rwtrq before with 25 or 26 degrees at peak torque and 28 degrees in the upper rpms.

Made 379 rwhp and 357 rwtrq tonight with 18% more humidity.
Changes are bigger air filter, tr55IX gapped to 0.048" (was 0.052" ), same shell 91 octane

Yup that's what mine seemed to like. The truck intake is likely holding you back over 6000 rpm too.

Oh ya I know it's a limiting factor now but my future plan is turbo so I'll live with it.

Went to the track today with better weather. Density altitude app said 900 ft. The only difference from my dyno tune was 25* of timing from 2400 to 4000 rpm instead of 24*. Managed an 11.62 and 11.63 at 116.33 mph with a 7.41 1/8 mile at 93.55 mph. 60 ft on the 11.62 was 1.67 but 1.65 on the 11.63.
I knew I just needed a good DA day.
