LS3 heads are great... on a bigger bore. Anything under 4.065" and I wouldn't recommend them. They have too low a coefficient of discharge. But up the bore to 4.125" and the aftermarket castings from TFS and MAST seem to be about as good as the LS7 heads. Of course, Tony's work on them doesn't hurt.

I would agree that a bigger bore is advantageous, but I think we have shown that they can be extraordinary on a 4" bore in both 6 liters and 400+ inch engines if the whole package is put together correctly. As for the LS7 platform, I think the LS7 valve angle and raised port have some inherent advantages you just can't ignore.

That's very true on the LS7.

Although the aftermarket LS3s really close the gap on the LS7s. But the raised port still is hard to beat.

And as far as your combo goes... most don't show that. But a lot more pick up when you increase the bore. So while it can be done, it's easier with more bore. This is a 39x cid setup with a fairly small cam to be making 700+ hp. I attribute that to the bore and the Heads.

Just thought I would chime in, Dan's build was a nice one to do, Dan brought in some very nice parts to start, I had a few suggestions and ideas to put in the mix, one thing was the ring package and honing process, and another was that I set the block up with pin/piston oil squirters, I felt this would help in this particular combo for the long wide open runs that Dan plans on doing with his corvette.

Tony did an excellent job with the cylinder heads, they showed how good they were in the horsepower department, the engine has pretty mild cam timing, so to make the power that it did reflects on how good the heads are. I feel that in a high compression engine with a more aggressive camshaft and these particular heads 800-830 hp is not out of the question.

Thanks to Dan for choosing DLRE for the engine building process, it was a pleasure to build such a nice piece.

Thank you Tony, Dustin & Kip for your professional expertise and guidance and for teaming up for an awesome build. Next step hopefully will be the dyno at West Tech for the FAST mid-length runner intake test before eventual install into the Corvette (trans & diff still need to be prepared).

Speedtigger, AKA Steve, just wanted to thank you again for your
detailed thread on your LLR in your LS2, your results convinced
me to go LLR W/ Kip even before you did "The Little Beast".
i am sure the LLR contributed at least 15-20 maybe as much
as 25 FWHP in my application over a hydraulic from 6500-7500 RPM.

Great motor setup , this must be the thread Kip was telling me to check out , I'm 100% sold on the Cam Motion LLSR cams now ,, wander how that setup would pick up with a Mast LS7 2 piece intake . Congrats on an awesome build , it's gonna be a monster

I'm starting to think that a Mamo top end with LLSR is about as good as it gets on these things. Haven't seen one yet that underwhelmed

Quite interest in the fast mid runner result! Guys don't spin ls3's high enough to properly utilize the heads and the harmonics of the stock intake are all wrong for it.

Awesome build NAVYBLUE210. Extremely well thought out and you have the best of the best parts on it. Glad it turned out how you wanted it to.

I'm still amazed by the torque number especially when you not using a 4 inch or more crank!! Amazing build for sure my guy!

Bore? A factor but small potatoes. Rpm? Now we're talking
