Good bye opti problems. At least your set up for some engine mods now.

That's the plan. I have a spare motor waiting to be built to handle more rpm. Opens up ability for tuning not having to look for a LT1 tuner.

Plus reliability will be nice and able to toss a OBD2 scanner on it lol.

I did the TorqHead kit on my '96 Impala. Wasn't concerned much with the opti issues.....I needed the added tunability of the LS ECM, and the additional rev capability.

Topping out short off 7200 RPMs with the stock PCM sucked big-time! I can now rev as high as I need to go with my 250*+ duration solid roller cam.

I actually skipped the Lt1 but still tried helping my buddies through the struggles. One buddy still has one and just built a motor for it. Nothing but problems so far. Hawks mail tune is off a little but he has no way to log to get it spot on. He tried two msd opti's with horrible break up and back firing. Now he's got a gm in there and doing better. I feel for the guys trying to hang on to the LT yet. A junkyard Ls with harness and computer can be had for cheaper than some of the 24x conversions.

I'm "stuck" with the LT. For my 30th, my wife bought me my first spare motor and longblock. So I have basically a motor and a half to build one good one out of.

It will be a long process, but it will be fun. I'm doing supporting mods now to prove them out, then swap them to the new motor.

And if I had the money, I would skip the Fbody all together and go C5. But this thing is fun to tinker with.
