C5Z Tick Torque Max Stage 2 Cam low rwhp numbers? Dyno graph added
I had my car dynotuned today after the cam install and while I like the torque numbers, the hp seems down for these cars.
It came in at 395hp/398tq.
Mods are:
03 C5 Z06
Stock 243 heads
Stock Ls6 intake and tb
Varram Cold air with blackwing filter
XS Power stainless long tubes
Offroad Xpipe
Underdrive pulley
Stock Titanium exhaust
Tick Torquemax Stage 2 cam 227/235 .618/.605 110+3
I haven't seen the dynograph yet or picked up the car, but the hp just seemed down? It seems like most of these cars tend to dyno over the 400rwhp mark cam only. Also is it odd that it made more torque than hp? Seems like most ls motors always make more hp than torque.
I do know this isn't a "peak power" cam because that's not what I'm wanting. It does sound f'n sweet though. lol

This is true. I know the dyno is just a tuning tool, but I thought for sure it would be atleast a little over the 400 mark.Especially with all of the other bolt ons. Hard not to get caught up in dyno numbers just a little bit. lol I think I'd be ok if the number just started with a 4. Even a 400.000001. lol It is humid as hell and raining today, maybe that could mess with it too?

Yeah the weather will definitely affect it, but you'll still get a solid idea regardless. If it were me I wouldn't waite, I'd hit the track asap. Btw who tuned it? How much timing does it have?

This is fortunately/unfortunately exactly what I was thinking. I love it made almost 400rwtq, I've seen a lot of much bigger cams not accomplish this, just that hp number is messing with me. It seems like they are somewhere around 380rwhp with just bolt ons and to only gain 15rwhp with a cam kinda sucks. I dont have any baseline numbers, so its hard to say exactly what it gained. It had all of the bolt ons when I got it.

Unfortunately its suppose to rain here for infinity. lol The whole next week is going to be wet, so the track will have to wait. A local guy here Bham. I know his shop is fairly new, but has great reviews and customer service. He's tuned quite a bit of Vettes and some supercharged camaros with good results.

I haven't even picked it up yet, guy just emailed me it was done and the numbers. With my work schedule I couldn't be there unfortunately. Before it was just all of the bolt ons and tune. Ran great and strong. Car had a lot of bucking with the cam install, but seemed pretty peppy. All 2500rpms that I would let it get to. I'll see if I can find out what kind of dyno it is.

To be honest it really doesn't matter, since the dyno can be manipulated to how the tuner wants. I've seen mustang dynos read higher than dynojet dynos. I know one particular place that uses a mustang dyno and it used to read consistently low and now a year later it reads consistently high lol. See what I'm saying?

That's good that he's focusing on the fine tuning as well, but your hp and tq are roughly the same and that in itself is simply not right. At this this point im betting it runs way better than what this dyno suggests lol

Small update..... The car was backfiring on decel and found to be a broken plug. Those numbers were with the broke plug and thinks it should be dead on 400 with the new plug. I'll take a new plug tomorrow when I pick it up. Should I ask to be put on the dyno with the good plug?

Torque is there for sure and I love that, but I haven't found one Z yet that put down under 400rwhp with cam, pulley, etc..... Not saying they don't exist, just me and Google haven't found them yet. Lol
