I've seen a fella here from Mississippi run a 7.02 in the 1/8 mile in a 01 Z28 6 speed car with ported 243 heads on the SBE. Thats roughly a 11 sec flat car in the quarter. Car appeared to have full interior but it also had a BMR K member etc .....

LS guys are spoiled with 243's and better heads. These heads can be had ported for $1000 or so. My neighbor was building a 351 Windsor and his $2500 heads only flowed what my ported 243's flow.

I'll give this old thread a bump. My junk is probably in the ballpark. It made 544whp 446wtq as a baseline....but it was running out of fuel. So I have a fuel pump now and it will be e85 capable. A couple other little things to do to go along wuth that. Hopefully end up in the 570-580 whp range.

Sorry to quote this old post, but were you using a Dynocom dyno? If so, just changing the smoothing from 5 to 1 will likely have helped show you the higher RPM area closer to what it should have been.

It amazes me to see these kind of numbers from cathedral headed engines with less cubes when I'm making only 540rwhp 500tq from a 93 tuned LSX427 with Brodix BR7 heads and a 102mm intake and throttle body. I'd like to know more about these builds because somethings not adding up.

Yeah, too many guys, especially on FB, claim big numbers that seem overly optimistic unless they are running monster cams.

They have to be running high compression motors with worked over cylinder heads running on high octane fuel and turning big race cams.

It's all about the combo. You can buy all the good parts you want but if you don't just stick to basic hotrodding **** then you won't get good results.

Big hammer posted my results on fb because I loath fb.....some had a nervous breakdown

idk....what is high compression these days. My car did what it did on 93 octane sheetz gas running out of fuel pressure. What is a big cam these days? 23x/24x isn't that big compared to some......but if you don't have enough compression to go with your big cam then your **** is gonna suck.

Which goes hand in hand if you have that big cam and are using a intake that's done at 6300 your **** is only gonna make noise.

How hard can it be?? I'm using a 5.7 with gen4 rods because they were $100, mahle pistons I did pay some attention to but they were restocks from amazon, gm performance parts cnc heads from the 2003 era with stock valves that everyone thought was junk. That I originally found, bought and sent to big hammer because he wanted them and then didn't use them so I bought them back.

A llsr cam/lifters that came out of darths h/c 5.7 he gave me and a msd intake that was on fire in aaron's car.

I mean you're running way more of a build than me. There's been bolt on ls7s make what your 427 made.

Yes it was a Dynocom dyno. Unfortunately at the time, I didn't have permission to touch their computer or edit anything on the screen.
