98 Camaro SS LS1 bolt-ons dyno guesstimate
Hi Everyone,
Finally getting to my first Dyno tune next week, and wondering if anyone has any guesses before I post the results?
Here's what I have done so far:
- SLP air lid
- Ported & polished stock TB
- LS6 intake manifold
- MSD wires & new plugs
- BBK ceramic coated LT headers
- ORY
- High Flow Single Cat
- Borla 3" cat back exhaust
- Stock cam and heads
Just wanted to add a bit of usable power for the street. It hesitates a bit around 4000 rpm in 2nd and 3rd. Hoping the tune will fix this. Will post numbers next week.
Thanks,
Steve

Just out of curiosity, why the single cat? It has to be more restrictive than the two cats the car came with, even if it is high flow. A high flow cat after each header would flow much better.

I've seen Mustang dynos read both higher and lower than Dynojet dynos, but I'll take a guess anyways, and say 340 rwhp. Honestly though, the number is somewhat irrelevant, but rather how it runs at the track is the true indicator of what it's making

Anything around 350 would be great. Trying to make a nice back road weekend cruiser with a little extra power. Just finished a bunch of BMR suspension upgrades including front & rear sway bars, rear lower control arms, panhard bar, shock tower brace, C5 corvette brake conversion kit and new Bilstein shocks. Along with new BF Goodrich Sport Comp Tires, it feels really planted now.
Would a new cam and heads be the next upgrade?

A good set of 243 heads and a mild cam would really wake it up and still keep its street manners. How much lope would you put up with?

results!
330 HP / 330 torque. Like G said above- the Single cat was severely restricting it and the guy at the tune shop said 2 high flows before the Y would have brought it closer to 350/350. Soooo....new cats on the way. Had a great time at Raven Autosports in Halifax. Very helpful and explained everything they did during the tune. BTW this was a Mustang Dyno on a hot humid day. Approx dynojet numbers: 369whp/371wtq corrected.
