i was there while the car was on the dyno, it was awesome.....0 to 700 in about 31/2 or 4 seconds.

what is so funny, is all those mods to the engine and tranny, but still has stock 17 in tires and 275/40's on the car.

by the way, i thought it dyno'ed at 781 but that is still just crazy.

see you around town.

Here is the problem there. I am a showman. By that I mean, everything has to be a certain way. That includes the wheels and tires. The car really wants HRE's, however those are $3800.00, Then I would be affraid to drive them on the street fearing they would get scratched. So XNAY the HRES. However......

When I decided to build the 427. My thought was as this was the last year of the Trans Am for now anyway, the 427 was a throw back to the 60's. After much searching, I believe I have found the wheel that belongs on the car. www.Wheelvintiques.com, makes a wheel called the Billet Pontiac Ralley II. They make this wheel in a 17X11 and 17X9.5. It probably will not fit the taste of many of the Fbody people today, and certainly would not fit any of the tuner lifestyles, but it does seem to fit me. IMO, I believe it would give the car a little throw back to the 60's, and still offer performance.

I really like the WS6 wheels on the car now, but 17X9.5 on the rear will not cut it. I did speak with Vaughn Machine Shop out west, and he does widen stock rims, however, he only widens to the inside which would require a spacer to put things back into perspective and the thought of driving around on a welded wheel with 700+ hp is a little scary. Hoosier make a DOT tire with an Formula 1 tread that seems would be perfect for these wheels. So we will see.

If you have time, I would really like some opinions on these wheels. Let me know
Thanks
Bryan

don't get me wrong, your car is off the hook. i wasn't making fun, i'm saying i'm nowhere near where you're at on hp and i can't imagine trying to drive that on a wet street in this over crowed town. my vote would be buy the hre's, but to each his own, that's what makes all this so fun. i doubt those tires will lost long though

good luck

I really like those wheels. They'll definitely give the car an old school look. Those wheels look a lot like the stock ones from my dad's 67 GTO, I say you go for it. You'll have a very unique car with wheels like those.

I understand the goal, but the wheels to me just don't flow with the lines of today's cars. I have a couple of old Muscle Cars, and I understand where you are coming from, but certain wheels and patterns just don't flow with the lines of certain cars.

If I were looking at a retro type wheel for that car, I would look at a Torque Thrust D or one of the one that looks like that. I have seen a billet Torque Thrust D type wheel on a TA that looked good, and had an old school feel to it.

Wheels can make or break a car. With what you have tied up in the car, I would certainly not cut corners at this point... The HRE's would certainly be a winner as far as I am concerned. Of course you can curb any wheel, and I understand your concerns. Anyhow I'm sure whatever you decide will be 110% as is the rest of your car.

Great numbers, and impressive car.

I wanted to buy those exact wheels for my car if I pursue the SuperDuty look. I think they would look good. They'd definitely be original in the sea of TTII,Fikse FM5/10,Z06,ZR1,etc...
