They can be dangerous my sister was killed because someone tried to a avoid missing a wallaby (small kangaroo) while driving and it was in a residential area not far from the city of Hobart.

It's much worse at night. I just got home before dark from my day trip to see Mum to avoid hitting any.
My LS1 has some damage from the previous owner hitting one.
