Lou Gigliotti had taken delivery of his 98 camaro on a Friday and laid down a bit over 305 rwhp on his dyno. On Saturday he added a Borla and air filter and laid down a 311. I took delivery of my car late on that Saturday and drove to Sacramento for an autox on Sunday morning, to Sacto Raceway for 2 quick passes netting a 13.3 at 105.9 (and I don't drag race for s**t, being a granny shifter) and to the dyno shop for 5 pulls with no 5 being the one above.
6 months later with only free mods, no maf screens and a Borla catback the car dynoed 327/340! Wish I had kept those stock heads but I sold them when I did the Heads/Cam/LTs. Interestingly enough my Dyno King became a Dyno Queen after the install and only made 401/379 after my TR 224, TEA 5.3s, Jet Hot LTs, etc install.
These were very stout numbers for the 98/99 model years, but later years over 300-310 was common. You gotta remember how pissed off the Corvette crowd was in 98 when their 97-98 C5s were only pulling 270s and 280s and the FBods were in the high 290s or low 300s. The Z06 gave them their ego back, however.
We shall see soon. My LS2 stroker 402 is on order from SDPC. Should be installed by the end of the year. This expenditure will postpone my LS7 purchase, but I will certainly go LS7 hunting with it as soon as they arrive.
