Nice, those are very nice cars. BUt, lets put 10-12psi to a Ls-1 and see what numbers we come up with. orr like the zo6 that put down over 600 to the tires with a bolt on blower kit and some valve springs. I think it was a vortec at 10psi. So i think they can be beat dollar for dollar in performance.

I disagree totally. The LS1/LS6 market is only maybe a tenth of the Mustang market. Now the Z06 that made 600 rwhp, 1st it cost alot more to begin with, the blower kit cost alot more plus they used Andy's brackets and front mount intercooler-another cost and it had headers. For $3500-ONLY u can buy a KB and make over 600RWHP through the factory cat, manifolds, and catback. Seriously guys give the Stang some credit-they are much easier and cheaper to modify. THE ONLY downfall to the Cobra's is the weight-that is the equilizer, they weight 3700lbs without a driver. Give the guy a break, he had a f-body, paid money to get some magical #'s out of somebody who is the best in business as a head porter. The combo never panned out-as alot of people find out when they buy parts from stuff on these forums. So he never got any answers, nothing worked-said **** it and bought a Stang-threw on a K&N and made 400RWHP. He was supposed to get that a cam and headers and didn't it. And please guys don't say somehtin was wrong and he bought this when he should of bought that. Alot of guys buy all the same stuff that guys who make crazy #'s only to be disapointed-I know I've been there too. All the guy di was post his #'s being that he was a LS1 tech member. Now u go out and hang him-that's not nice-remeber it's all about RESPECT!

I didn't start this as a my car is better than any car out there .. If you have the money, you can make a YUGO (sp) fast ... It was just a post for information .. that is all.

I don't claim that the eation supercharger that comes stock on the Cobra is the most efficient supercharger out there .. as a matter of fact, it isn't , but it did help keep the cost of the cobra down and is fairly reliable.

Again, if I had the $$, I'd get a Z06 , slap a blower on it and be very happy ...

I could also get some good numbers by spending some $$ on my car with a twin turbo setup at about 11psi and make some very good numbers too .. I could spend less, put more PSI in it with a Kennie Bell or Whipple setup and make some good numbers ...

I wasn't trying to start anything ... it is all INFORMATIONAL .. I LOVE ALL PERFORMANCE CARS!!!!

Vortech,

No one makes the numbers that KB originally published for their blower. Read some mustang forums. A lot of people seem to think that at pump-gas boost levels, the twin-screw really isn't much better than the eaton. Some people get the stock eaton ported (I'm not sure how), and they say that helps.

Its not about respect, its about physics, and the '03 Cobras are nothing magical. They do have really tough factory engines though.

LOL .... Trust me .. If I had my way with Ford, we would see at least a 5.4 in the mustang!! .. I know as well as anyone else, there is no substitute for cubic inches ..... but with only 4.6L, we have to compensate some how

That is why I like what GM did with the Vette .. up the ci !! ... As a matter of fact ... I can't wait for the new Z06 ... I'll never afford one, but I'll like to look

I bought a new 03 cobra earlier this year (march) and I sold it within 4 months... thank god I bought it 10K under sticker (it was used with 480 miles on it) and I sold it for 1K less than I paid after I demodded it.
I put on;
2.8 pulley
Flowmaster catback (for sale)
K&N filter
predator tuner
put down 450 at the wheels and had pretty good power however I sold it.
I have had several mustangs in my life, from 12 second drivers to a mid 10 second @ 130 mph driver.
The quality of the 03 cobra was supurb, 2nd to none (maybe a german car) but to make it really fast, I would have to REALLY void the warranty. I paid cash for the car, and here is what I did with the money;
paid cash for a 98Z28 with 69K miles, leather, A4, T tops never smoked in, 100% perfect shape inside/out.
I put these mods on;
3200 vigalante
LS6 intake
ASP pulley
Pace setter long tubes
off road Y
Bassani catback w/electric cutout
TSP lid w/K&N filter
Anyway, the car makes 351 rwhp with cutout open, gets 24.5 mpg on the highway, (better than 20 in the city)
My o3 cobra got 14 mpg no matter how I drove it!!!
I have the 98 Z paid in full, all mods paid in full, I LOVE driving the Z, it is actually more comfy than the cobra, as I am 5'10, 255lbs and I am too chubby for the cobra seats.
I have about 12K in the Z (with mods), I put 16K in my pocket AFTER paying for the mint Z and mods.
I know that I could outrun a stock or fairly stock 03/04 cobra, my car is good for mid 12's...
My .02

If you pay more than $30K for a new cobra you are retarded. It's easy to get them for way under sticker.

For the dude that said it was weak power..

We dynoed a low hp cobra at 347rwhp.. Then did the K&N FIPK and a magnaflow catback to it. Picked up 62 RWHP!!! How many LS1's have you seen get that off some borla and a lid?

Don't be so close minded. I have less then 1K in my cobra and it makes way more rwhp and tq than my bolt on camed Z06 ever did. If my cobra wasn't a vert I'd say it would be quicker too. Seriously with 3 mods I made 471 rwtq..

Crowley Those are good numbers for just a filter.I never dynod my cobra when it was stock but it did run 12.6 @113.7 with only 800 miles on it.This was bone stock right down to the filter.Then I did the basic's "2.8,cat back,filter,preditor and nittos" and it ran low 11s @ 121."the pulley is the magic"

I think its funny because MOST (not all) of the Cobra guys think that the cobra is so much faster than the ls1 in stock trim. I have seen so many of them run low 13s to very high 12s @107 to 110 mph.My wifes WS6 went 13.1 @109.9 when it was 100%stock and thats just as fast as alot of 03/04 cobras.

I think the Kenne bell is a waste of money innless you plan on running in the nines.My buddys bolt on cobra with a ported eaton and a small shot of "gas" just went11.0 @ 134 mph @ 3800 pounds. If he could drive that would be an easy 10.3 pass.

Having owned both, I wouldn't think that. I loved the SS and it ran hard and stock put down 306rwhp and 323rwtq .... It ran good to.

I'm a terrible driver and stock I ran 107.7 in the 1/4 .... I know others could do much better .. like I said .. I suck at the dragstrip .. hell with my cam and headers I still only ran a best of 13.01 @ 112.3 ... My 60' fts suck ..

Anyway .. I have alot of respect for the LS1 and I know what it can do. We will all see what the LS2 has to offer as well ... I chose to go the route of the cobra and I am not dissapointed .. I enjoy driving it and I can't wait to see where I can take the car ..
