PRC 5.3's and Futral F15 cam dyno
Drove the car down to Racetech Speed today to do some dyno runs with the new combo. I'm running the same PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads that I've had on the car for a while now. A couple of days before I left to go to the Thunder Racing Southern Shootout I installed a Futral Motorsports F15 cam in the car. It is a 236/239 .600/.610 111 lsa 108 icl cam. I've driven the car to work and back all week with this cam, and I'm really impressed with how good it drives and how much "low end" power it has while going up mountains and such in 6th gear. I'm going to add a LS2 intake and 90mm TB next, but it will be after Christmas before I can do that... I have some suspension stuff I want to buy first, along with having to have my 12 bolt rebuilt.
It was dyno'd with the belt on it, 17x11 TT2's with 315/35/17 nitto's out back @ 17psi, thru a moser 12 bolt with 4.10 gears, 33 spine axles, 33 spline Eaton Heavy Duty Posi, and an AP Engineering Chromoly Drive shaft.
I logged all my dyno runs with HPtuners and I noticed that on every run the MAF reading would go CRAZY above 6,000rpms. I took the MAF off, cleaned it, and then stuck it back on... that didn't help anything. I've also attached a screenshot of the HP tuners log on that dyno run... What's going on with my MAF??? Anybody know?

I'm pretty sure the F15 is the Ron Jeremy cam. I'm really surprised at how "small" this cam seems while driving, I was expecting it to be a bad driver with a name like that.
Btw.. I'm still running the stock LS6 intake with a ported stock TB. I also swapped out the Yella Terra rockers for the stockers when I changed cams. It was suggested by some very knowlegable people that the stock rockers would work better than the YT's with a cam this big.

How is it compared to a similar duration TSP231/237 or TSP MS (Dunno if you've had this cam or not)? My F14 is supposed to be here today, much smaller duration though, 232/234 112lsa.

It drives better than the 231/237 that I had a while back, I'm sure that is due to the softer lobes of the 231/237, I would guess that the 231/237 has more duration at .006 than the 236/239 that I'm running right now... you can't always go by those .050 duration numbers.

Nice numbers, definitely nothing to sneeze at, but still... distortion_69 pulled 420rwhp/410rwtq cam-only with the same cam, also through a 12-bolt.
I was under the impression that this cam was designed as a max-effort cam-only cam for stock heads.

He isn't joking when he says it drives really well.. I didn't notice much of a difference from my 224 cam.. The clutch on the otherhand I got at the same time was a killer (402/910).. That joker ain't nothing to sneeze at.. I love it. Perhaps your peak results are fudged by your MAF.. Was your A/F good all the way through the end? Hopefully you can get these sorted out and recognize the max potential of the cam..
Peace,
Josh

Nice numbers! I'll be ordering a set of those PRC stage 2.5 5.3s within the next couple of weeks. I'd be happy with anything over 410 rwhp through my unlocked 3500 stall and 12 bolt.

Hey Gomer, what exactly is the MAF doing? HPTuners has a bug in it, after the MAF hit's a certain frequency range it starts reading negative numbers and whacky numbers, it's just the scanning software. I don't remember the range off of the top of my head; I'll have to view my logs on my laptop to see where it starts. Anyway don't be too worried, they are supposed to fix this problem in the next release. Good numbers btw.

Btw.. if there is any sponsor out there that wants to let me "borrow" a LSX intake and 90mm tb for before and after testing... I'll pay for all the dyno time and do all the tuning, along with returning your intake and TB after the testing............ Unless of course it impresses the hell out of me, and then I'll just pay you for the intake and TB.
