Incredible power from a hydraulic roller 346.

Can't wait to see what the 225's can do.

I was just pointing out that it wasn't just the heads making all the power like I gathered for the subject line and so people dont start screeming "So and so made HP with these but I didn't!" Hell I was about to put my AS stage 2.5's in the trash untill I saw the 12 to 1 and a few other things.

I'd bet the car would ET much better with a stronger rear but the trap speed would drop a bit. Seems like cars always trap higher when they spin and trap lower when they et better.
JMO.
140mph is impressive none the less. There are cars with strokers and nitrous that don't trap that.

Louis,

quick question

How much did you mill the heads for 12:1 comp and did you go with 4cc valve reliefs on the pistons?

I think that combo is amazing. I would what it would do in my 385

As if the 7 hp going from 11.5: to 12:1 accounts for anything to write home about. I just don't get the reason people have an issue with static CR when the dynamic compression is what matters and the data logging never supports the 'cylinder pressure issues' theory many cite as the problem. It gets tuned and data logged and never shows knock retard up high in the rpm then accept that 12:1 on pump gas with the correct dcr is fine to run.

What are the 'few other things you saw'?

SO is this the setup you'll be competing with now, Lou? I saw a little bit of your Long Beach race on Speed. I love seeing that car hit those straights and take those corners.

How the hell you get the rwtq's so hi? For a long time 400rwtq was a lot, then 410, then 420 and then 430's. But 480's out of a stock block 346. Tat has to be explained, cause it just breaks all the rules...

Regarding the power and TQ they are actually right in line with a high flowing effficient headed combo (one with alot of airspeed). The numbers mimic my current 383 set-up which has less compression and a smaller camshaft, but make ups for that in displacement to a point. Also, Lou has an extremely optimized driveline with a light flywheel/clutch package which will allow more power to make it to the rear wheels. A standard clutch flywheel combo (say a SPEC III with an Fidenza aluminum wheel) would probably dyno 10-15 less TQ and HP.

Either way you slice it its a badass ride and stupid power from a hydraulic roller 346....that's for sure. And I almost fell over as well when this thread got resurected from the dead....LOL
