Low Comp 395ci Stroker TTP Stage 4 Equalizer Results Within --
This car originally dyno'd 509rwhp/471rwtq at an outside dyno facility. On our dynojet the car consistently made between 485-490rwhp/460rwtq, stock rear 3.42 gears.
Then we changed out the stock rear for a Moser 12-bolt, 33 spl, 4.56 gears. Unfortunately we did not dyno the car before we threw on the new heads. So I'll take a guesstimate that this heavy rear with the 4.56's is robbing *conservatively* 15rwhp/tq.
The car had Absolute Speed Stage 2.5 LS6 heads with custom cut valves on before, 11:1 C/R. We swapped the Abs. out for our TTP Stage 4 AFR 225cc Heads (CNC ported by AFR - Finish port/polish done at TTP). These heads lowered the C/R to about 9.6:1. Taking into consideration the loss of almost a point and a half C/R, we figure about 20-30hp loss.
So right off the bat we are down 35-45hp from the rear and compression loss. The car now dyno'd in at 475rwhp vs. the high of 490rwhp on our dyno. So we can guess the HP increase going from the $3900 set of heads to a $2370 pair of heads of around 20-30hp.
This is just to show some information on the great gains we are seeing with the 225 AFRs over other head porters. I'm not saying the Absolutes didnt make the power, because they definitely did but we are quite happy with the AFRs.
Just for everyone that will ask.. Yes we went low comp for a reason. And for that reason we'll also have to change the gear ratios next time it goes under the knife.
2000 Firebird
TTP Built 395ci Stroker
TTP Stage 4 AFR 225cc Heads
TTP Equalizer V.4 Camshaft
LSX 90mm Intake
FAST 90mm TB
Mez Electric Water Pump
Kooks 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" LTs
Kooks Y-Pipe with CATS
Borla Catback
TTP Stage 3 A-K T-56
*Note: Peak TQ was 435.3. Which should be higher since we couldnt get the TQ reading higher because of the spikes. We're having problems with our Dynojet reading tach signal of late. Hope to diagnose those asap.
