Default Need an extra 20 whp :) .. opinions needed..

First off Props to TTP for their great in-house *Equalizer* cam, tuning, and workmanship!! .. Now I'm scaring people with the ROAR

Numbers in my sig and I'd like to touch 400 rwhp NA.. that number's just stuck in my head since I bought this car lol

Any ideas on would get me there ? are the bellows worth it ? Coolant Bypass mod ? FTRA ?

Thanks!

Remove the air filter and put some nitrous in a spray bottle and spray it in the lid when you are on the dyno to get 400rwhp so you will be happy. Then take it to the track for some real proof of what the cam did.

im thinkin heads...a4, vig 3600 converter and cam only is gonna be VERY hard to grab another 21hp to get you to 400...youve got pretty much all bolt ons other then EWP...i would just get a set of decent heads and be done with it if your going for 400.

yeah there's an idea !!

I'm really happy with the numbers it's putting down, esp with the miles .. I just wanna be able to hit 400 whp so 1 - I'll have achieved my WHP goal and 2 - Get the Blackbird 400 HP stripes

The car ran 13.30 @ 105 bone stock with 92K miles..

Time for new times

I have no ideas for you, but it is sure nice to know these cars still perform well when they get some serious mileage on them...awesome man. Get some new times!

yeah I know heads would def bump me beyond the 400 mark.. but I was wondering if there was anything less invasive that would get me there..

If I can't do anything *bolt-on* wise... I'll probably just add a 100-125 wet shot sometime .. but that wouldn't be all motor

I'll do heads on a newer motor when this one blows [which I really hope doesn't happen anytime soon lol ]

What do ya'll think about the Bellows + FTRA ? Shouldn't that be worth 10-12 rwhp at higher speeds ? I'm still 10 whp short.. unless I go by Flywheel HP rating now ..

My baby is about to turn 100k as well. Last weekend I prematurely celebrated the 100k mark with a cam. Hope she enjoys it, I know I do

You might not even notice anything with the bellow, but the FTRA might show some gains. To how much HP it is worth, I dunno. Never dynoed my car before or after I put it on.

welcome to the club man ...

The rush I get from this car now [ post cam ] is the exact same as when I first test drove a LS1 [ it was a '00 Z28 ] .. and going from a Mercury Sable to a LS1 drive was a galaxy of a difference!

If you non-cammed guys are still un-decided, DO IT !! That choppy base sound alone is worth it [ hmm.. too many emoticons in my responses lol ]

yeah the FTRA wouldn't show anything on the dyno.. Plus, I'm scared I might hydo-lock considering the rain/pothole combo on the North East
and driving around with the block-off plate is what fun !!

the only thing that i don't see on your list that might possibly be helpful is a throttle body. the bellow and tb bypass may be worth 1 hp a piece.

if i were you, i'd go ahead and have a Blackbird stripe made up that said 475 hp, because if you factor in a 20% drivetrain loss you have every bit of 475 at the flywheel (that drivetrain loss may be more with your stall, i don't know much about stalls). after all, the 305 to 325 hp these cars made from the factory was not the hp to the wheels for the majority of us.

Unless you get heads, the only way you are likely to have a chance at 400 is if you ditch the cats and get a ported TB. And that would REALLY be pushing it. A cutout might help, but the GMMG is pretty free flowing anyway.

You might as well get your TB ported and get a cutout and see what happens.

That being said, dyno numbers don't matter at all. Hell, you could go to a different part of the country and get completely different numbers. But if you want a chance at 400, think about the TB, losing cats, and cutout. JMO

A new mass air sensor might help also. The Granatelli mass airs can flow up to 1000 cfm with the screen punched out. I'd like to see the stock mass air do that! This mod along with the other mods that 2000T/AWS6 listed might give you that extra 20rwhp that you're looking for.

Most people will say that a new MAF is a BIG NO-NO. Doesn't gain anything and can mess other stuff up. Just keep the stock one unless you are making BIG power.

No joke! That FAST LSX intake is around $880 then the new 90mm TB is $460. For around the same $1300 you can get heads like matts22 was saying.
