Default APE 382 #s

I was expecting a little more torque. The cam specs are 246 248 613 615 with ET Performance 5.3L heads, Fast 90mm intake NW throttle body, LG longtubes. It does have 3.90 gears. It made 456hp and 408tq on APE's Mustang dyno. Something doesn't seem right. I thought the #s would be higher on a dynojet.

Generally they are bigger on a Dyno Jet. You did pick up more torque on the dynojet. Just curious, what was the A/F ratio on that dyno? How many miles do you have on it now?

Thanks

Hi Chris. I didn't have them run a A/F. The motor has maybe 500 miles on it since you did the work. You think I should of went with different heads? If they were SAE would they be lower?

8%-10% difference in the dynos perhaps, could be anything.
Still pretty strong numbers. Very cool.
I do wish either AP or Livernoise had a dynojet for comparison sake though.

that is a big cam for that displacement. What LSA is the cam on? Might pick up a bit of midrange with a different cam choice.

That motor will likely make 475/435 ish on a dynojet as it sits

If it made It made 456hp and 408tq on APE's Mustang dyno then you should have gained 20-30 hp and tq when going to a dynojet, I actually gained over 30 hp when going between APE's dyno and a dynojet. The Mustang/loaded number is a more true number though. Maybe you should take it back to APE's dyno and see if it dyno's alot lower, If it does you know there is a problem.

The sheet says it is a Dyno Jet and those are STD numbers not corrected... Is this is an M6 or A4? For reference, my 383 stroker put down 456rwhp and 431rwtq with an A4, 12bolt and 4.11 gears. My cam was a Comp XE-R 236/240. My uncorrected numbers were at almost 500rwhp.

I agree...

With the 90mmTB and the LSX intake, couped with all the other mods something is wrong...

... Your TQ curve is barely wider than mine and my numbers are SAE corrected vs. your STD numbers.

I think it might be the cam. I bet he'll pick up with a smaller cam on a tighter LSA.

5.3 heads on a 382? I think there the issue, esp with that cam being that big

I'm thinking the heads too. I'm going to have it dyno'd again Wednesday on a different dyno. And have the A/F done this time.

Matt, if you think it's the heads, we will gladly take a look at them and improve them if needed. Just let me know what you want to do. The power your car is making is what we normally see from 382's. They just don't make the that the 408's make.

Thanks,

try another dynojet, I have varied as much as 30hp between dynos, who knows something could be up with that one, You should pick up some extra hp when going from a Mustang dyno like APE's to a dynojet, If you were normal on the mustang dyno then maybe the dynojet is just whacked.
