Would this be too high of compression for the 91 octane crap we get out here in CA?

Would piston coatings and exhaust valve coatings allow higher compression with 91 octane?

Mark, I don't think this cam would pass the CA emissions. I would need to use a smaller cam on a wider lobe. CR is too high for 91. Coating would help a little but still a little on the high side. I'm building another 402 now for a Corvette headed to CA.

Mikey have you done any through TH400's on slicks yet? I'm curious as to what they would do in a drag set up.

Not yet Brad. All of the ones we've done were street cars and casual drag racers. I would love to get one of these in a serious drag car. I would opt for a higher CR and a solid roller though.

4.00" x 4.00" = 402

4.03 bore x 4 stroke = 408
about the same bore x 4.125 stroke = 422

Im interested in this setup also, but would want it to pass smog.

what cam would you be able to put in it and tune it to pass smog?

thanks
Mike
