Default Confused on Dyno Numbers

I have been reading a ton a posts lately comparing what I have done to others and the numbers don't seem to match. Guys are getting better numbers out of a lid and cat-back. I have an 01 SS M6, mods include Lid, MAF, smooth bellow, IAT module, 160 degree stat, fan control switch, and Loudmouth II cat-back system. I'm putting down 322rwhp 338tq. It seems like there should be more there. I might be wrong, but I would hope that I didn't blow money on anything. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

what kind of dyno was it? mustangs tend to show lower numbers. bellows, t'stat, and fan switch dont really pick up much if anything on a dyno. to tell you the truth, dynos are tuning tools, too many people get caught up in power numbers. the only numbers worth anything are on a timeslip.

the tracks the only way to go. who cares if the guy next to you has more power if you kill em at the track right.

Your in the ball park what were you expecting? A MAF is hit or mis as far as power add. You only have a lid and a catback. You might be missing a little hp but your tq is right up there. You have a 2001, might not have the ls6 intake that the 2002 have. Your numbers arent bad. Plus - UNLESS you see a dyno slip dont believe everyones numbers, some people like to exagerate a little.

The lid and loudmouth is what will give you power. Your engine is too stock to pick up anything significant from the other mods. Remember, all dynos read differentlu even sae.

What kinda MAF? In some cases an aftermarket MAF might actually lose you a few hp. Bellow maybe good for .5hp, IAT mod and 160 stat are worth nothing in terms of rwhp. Numbers aren't bad for your mods.

He has an LS6 intake, all 01 & 02 f bodies have them...I wouldnt complain about 322. Thats not bad for a lid and catback car, his results are typical. You could pick up a few ponies if you had some tuning also...

Check the obvious. Detonation... Sometimes you need a tune to get the #'s you should be getting.

i think your numbers are on par with your mods.if it were me,i would put the stock MAF back in.i installed an slp MAF when i was bolt on only and while i picked up some hp on the top end,i was down about 10 to 15 hp from 2500rpms to 4000rpms.like Ryan02SS said, some cars lose horsepower with an aftermarket MAF.

good numbers man, for a lid and catback car, seriously i pulled ~316rwhp/330rwtq with pacesetter long tubes, offroad y, cutout and lid. it all depends on a lot of conditions, the weather, the dyno, your tune, etc.

Peak numbers mean nothing. Find a Dyno that measures average numbers and tune by that. The more average HP you make the faster you will go. I would rather a few less peak ponies only to increase the average HP over the entire RPM band any day.
