Put a real cam and a set of headers with a tune on the LS 7 and watch what happens...I bet it is a 100 HP jump..LS 7 heads are bad a$$ and will flow like a ****...

A stock LS7 is what 505 brake HP? So RWHP I am going to say about 460 RWHP.. Put your mods on there to get your 100 HP (aggressive IMHO) so now you are turning 560RWHP in the LS7.. let these boys get better headsers on thier motor and some tunning to squeeze the extr HP outta it let say 25hp (like they predicted), the will be turning 553 RWHP.. Only seven behind the LS7 and I bet it is WAY cheaper to build.. GM is gonna try to bend people pver on the LS7 crate motor..
I am sorrry sir IMHO you are mistaken...the LS 7's are making around 515-518 HP on the dynos at the Wixon Performance Build Center...Chevy unlike Ford rates their engines very conservitive...you should do a little more home work and see just how good the the LS 7 heads which really are the C6R heads flow...If you think that $13,000 for a LS 7 crate moter is "being bent over" you should see what it will cost to build the same motor..sit down with a calculator and start adding up everything parts and machine work..you will be surprised...not talking about iron block 402's or 408's .. with the high quality of the LS 7 block you do not have the crap shoot with the sleave problems that have been showing up on those sleaved blocks...I am talking about a all alluminum 427 cu. in. with heads that flow like the LS 7 and all the lighweight pieces on the internals w\dry sump lubrication...I think that if you check with people who "know" what they are talking about you will see that few the mods I mentioned will easily put 100 HP more into the motor..not trying to flame you just trying to educate you sir.. Just because you can't afford the motor does not mean that it is not a deal... many people have the opposite opinion than you sir...they think it is a "deal"..

I wish I could find a decent LS2...
All of those old timey hot rodders putting LSx's in their t-buckets are making the prices sour. They are willing to pay anything to put new engines into thier cars. This jacks up prices to us.
Thats my two cents, and what I think is the reason for mark up, but I mean no offense to any-one on the forum. I see thsi trend very similar to the recent B-body price up. Come on, 2.5 million for a Hemi Cuda? ugh...
