Default Runs better than the numbers.

i have a 96 m6 forged 383lt-1, ported heads w/2.00 1.60 valves, port matched intake, 58 bbk throttle body, 540 550 lift, at .50 with 230 236 duration 114 lsa comp custom grind cam, 13/4 bbk headers, no cats with flow master exaust. Stock 3.42, withbuilt 6speed, spec stage 3 clutch. It put down 350hp 350 trq at 100 degrees in the dyno cell. Also seems to be running a tad on the rich side. I just picked it up from the dyno shop yesterday. It puffs bit of black on kick down. The weird thing is last night I went crusing with my friend who has an o1 trans am. He put down close to 390 horse 380 trq on mustang dyno(my numbers were on dyno jet). We did 6 or so kicks, he got me be an average of a half car every kick to a hundred, were I began to pull back slowly. The last kick we did I wound my car out about 300 more rpm and pulled him a car! I wa shiftin at 6000 until last kick i took it 6300 it kept pullin hard. The trans am mods are hooker long tube header, w/ off road pipe and hooker exaust, 630 630 lift at .50 w/ 228 232 duration with 114 lsa cam, 4.10 gears spohn torque arm, k&n lid.
MY Question is how am i running next to him at my numbers? He should lay down over 400 on dyno jet. Was it the heat killing my numbers, or the dyno is off. I have ridden in plenty of fast cars and my car in fact feels faster than 350horse 350 trq to the wheels.I have had three people say the same thing already in the one full day I have had it back from the dyno shop. Any sugestions or input would be appreciated!

Who cares about #,I built a 383 w/TEA LT1 S3 heads and a 242-575 cam and it put down 403RWH threw a 12-bolt 4.10's...Not exactly killer numbers but the car trapped 116 rolling it off the line at idle to the 1/8 and then hammering it in from there in 80 degree weather...(we were testing out a fuel issue and thats why we launched it off idle to the 1/8)..I know the cars got 120+ MPH in it we just need to finish up the rest of the little things and get back to the track...Dyno numbers are kewl but more for tuning that anything else....

Just have fun....

Al, At lingenfelter performance did my heads. He has been their head porter for 25 years. Although he ported them alot more than the lpe standard cnc program does. I am going back to the dyno this fall, numbers should be alot bettter. Pm me for more info about the heads and pricing.

Fun in deed. Numbers do not really matter, it's all about power under the curve. Im suprised it runs as good as it does. due to the fact I just removed a p1sc procharger from the build. Had to many issues with it. So I returned to na and had the heads done, but actually the motor has dished forged pistons and the cam is a blower grind. But blower cams I have heard will still work well with stroker motors. So I think nitrous will soon be on order to compliment the cam and pistons.
