Roofer Dave, Greg Fell,

I feel for you guys, I recently pulled my 2 year unfinished many promises project out of the old/new/old ARE for good. My wallet is lighter by $12,000 as a result, I have a couple of local friends in the same boat with ARE. I fear like me, you guys are in a world of hurt with your ARE motors.

I never posted my story here and the thread is now locked on LS2.com but instead of re-writing the whole thing, here is a link if your interested.

http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread...hreadid=283146

Good luck guys, hope you get it worked out.

Do you think it was the gaskets fault or could of it been installer error of machining problem??? And what type of head bolts were used?

ARE LS2 427
ARE/Patriot stage 3 heads
Crane 1.8 rockers
248/254 .621 intake .617 exhaust 114 +4 LSA (supposedly)
Fast 90 with LS2 TB
Halltech
Delphi 42 lb injectors
LGM 1 3/4 headers without cats
Stock Z06 exhaust
Spec 3 with alum flywheel
ECSC 4.10 gear
Fresh D&D MN12 tranny

The dyno graph shows the engine peaking at 6100 rpm and it nosedives. It only makes 320 rwhp at 6600.

I think the problem is the Patriot heads not being able to feed the engine up top.

What do you guys think?Oh BTW the car was tuned by Bill Wright aka Billium SS on here.
I have a similar set up but with a 412 LS2.

I do have AllPro heads and Kooks 1 7/8 headers with cats. Plus a steel DS and 12 bolt with 3.73 gears.

It made 512rwhp with 1.75 Pro Magnum rockers. It nosed over at 6100 rpm like yours. We put the stock rockers back in and picked up 40rwhp at 6500rpm. Still the same peak at the same rpm. It suggests valve train issues at the higher rpms. I went from .628 lift to .610 with the rocker change and gain hp under the curve.

BTW I have a set of Jesel J2k's on the way to replace the Pro Magnums.

The rockers will help, IMO.

Anyone want to buy a set of very low mileage rockers?

I look forward to seeing if you get the same type of results.

Car is still at Wheel, waiting on cutouts to get delivered. The head gaskets were weeping coolant and have been replaced with MLS Cometics. The bore was measured and I do in fact have a 4.125 bore block. There was some suspicion on my part that ARE may have sent me a stock bore LS2 block.

I'm sticking with the cylinder head that came on the engine. While the heads aren't a top shelf item they are acceptable for my street car.I wasn't going to spend 3 large to pick up 10-15cfm on a street engine.

Parts that were swapped
1.8 Crane rockers off stockers on
1 3/4 LGM headers replaced with Kooks 1 7/8
QTP electric cutouts
W2W tune
The cutouts should be delivered Mon,Tues and the car will be going on a Mustang dyno.I'll report back.

I'll bet it wakes up a little, but alot above 6100. Mine did.

Can't wait to see the results.

Wheel dynoed the car yesterday and I have some new numbers.

NA closed cutouts 516.6hp at 6200 rpm and 486.1tq at 4500rpm

NA open cutouts 530.2hp at 6200rpm and 507tq at 4500rpm

They made one nitrous pull with a half empty bottle at 750psi so the numbers are on the low side.

N2O open cutout 618hp at 6200 rpm and 626tq at 4400 rpm

Dyno is a mustang model 1750

Dave, any chance you could get pics of your cutouts? I'm trying to put the QTP's on my Kooks x-pipe, but dont seem to have the clearance. I'm also running the DTE diff brace, which may be why.

If I can get the car back up on a hoist before it leaves I can snap a pic.

You have me worried. I have the Comp 1.75 Magnums. The motor isn't in yet, but I just got back from overseas yesterday and plan to get it in as soon as I get the car to my shop probably next week. Why do you think the Magnums lost HP, and should I go ahead and get a different rocker now before the motor gets fired up? It seems weird that you would lose that much HP with the rockers. I can't understand why.

they weigh a lot. i had the same problems with yella terra 1.8's. honestly, I'd just stick with the stockers. they are great (light)
