Default PRC 2.5s Installed on 224/228 Car!

We just recently finished up a PRC Stage 2.5 head install on a 224/228 cam'd automatic car. All the car received was stage 2.5 heads & a ported throttle body!!
The car is a stock verter automatic car with cats & stock pulley!!

Enjoy!!

Nice gains.

One question: I've noticed that there is now an LS6 Stage 2.5 head. How does it compare to the 5.3L? Thanks!

Nice numbers! love my prc heads. I havent posted the graph yet but I put down 404hp and 385tq on a mutang dyno with PRC 5.3's and a tr224. Actualy outpulled an fm13 w/tea 5.3's all the way to 5800 rpms by 20 ft#'s and hp. Working on getting the graph posted. I know it will turn some heads and its a good comparison. a 99 vs 01 both with very similar mods and on the same dyno within 2 weeks of each other. Tuned by the same person and the weather was the same for both cars. Keep up the good work!

More details please... headers? What rear gears? Cut out? Or closed cat back? LSA & ICL on that cam?

I don't doubt the #'s, just want all the facts.

Do you have a graph overlay of the PRC 5.3/224 over the TEA 5.3/fm13?? I would be interested to see how much more power the PRC combo made across the board!!

I've seen it and I'm working on getting it emailed to me. The numbers are like this: And this is all on a mustang dyno
rpms hp tq 224/prc fm13/tea

2700 - 170, 331 .. 163, 313
2800 - 181, 338 .. 167, 313
2900 - 189, 342 .. 172, 313
3000 - 200, 348 .. 182, 316
3100 - 209, 355 .. 187, 319
3200 - 219, 360 .. 200, 327
3300 - 229, 365 .. 210, 333
3400 - 238, 368 .. 219, 338
3500 - 245, 369 .. 227, 341
3600 - 254, 371 .. 237, 345
3700 - 263, 374 .. 246, 348
3800 - 273, 376 .. 253, 350
3900 - 279, 377 .. 262, 353
4000 - 288, 377 .. 270, 355
4100 - 296, 378 .. 278, 356
4200 - 303, 379 .. 285, 357
4300 - 310, 379 .. 293, 358
4400 - 319, 380 .. 301, 359
4500 - 327, 383 .. 309, 361
4600 - 339, 385 .. 319, 364
4700 - 346, 387 .. 330, 367
4800 - 353, 387 .. 338, 370
4900 - 362, 388 .. 346, 372
5000 - 368, 387 .. 354, 372
5100 - 374, 385 .. 361, 371
5200 - 379, 383 .. 366, 370
5300 - 384, 380 .. 371, 368
5400 - 389, 377 .. 378, 367
5500 - 392, 375 .. 383, 367
5600 - 395, 371 .. 390, 365

Thats as far as the numbers printout that I have goes but I know the fm13 catches it and passes around 5800 and puts 10 more hp up after 6k but it never beats it in tq anywhere. If your not at the 1/4 mile track power after 6k doesn't matter. (to me anyway)
Both cars are modded about the same.
99ss w/ Stainless Works w/catted y and SLP factory d/d vs 2001 ws6 w/qtp's catted y, borla xr1 and gmmg. The only difference here is the ws6 has gm oem 411's. Which can be argued as to whether or not its hurting his output. Factory 10 bolt w/411's I dont think you loose that much power. Certainly not the difference we see here, plus he has the better exaust. My thought being they cancel out. Beuhler?

Seems like normal H/C #s to me for a stock verter. Those #s will dive with a good stall. Why doesnt he have a stall? Normally you get a stall before H/C in a A4. He'll get drug by a bolt on stall geared A4.

I edited my earlier post, it has a ported tb, stock pulley & kooks headers WITH CATS I think the gains were very good

Some guys just don't want the driveability loss from a verter so they stay stock Not everyone wants a 4400 stall, some guys want the performance without giving up driveability.

Thats' an interesting comparison. I would love to see the numbers of the FM13 on your car. I would bet they would be much higher than the car you are comparing it to.

What makes you say that? From everything I've seen an 01 usually outpulls a 99 no metter what intake the 01 has. The other car is a sweet looking ride as well, love those ws6's. But honestly I think it's a combination here of cam design and quite possibly better heads. As far as torque goes Stainless Works will take the credit for that, if you ask them anyway. But your right the best comparison would be to put an fm13 into my car and see what I get. Not sure of the valve size differences between PRC and TEA, that might account for it also. No matter I couldnt be happier with my heads. Heck I've seen an AFR 205 heads w/ AFR recommended cam not put as much either. For low and midrange power( and in my case most of the way thru the rpm cycle) you cant beat a tr224. The PRC heads accentuated it for sure!! Great job guys keep up the good work!

We had a TR 224 cam combo with our heads on our dyno make more power EVERYWHERE then our heads and the FM13 on our dyno. We have had other customers make good power with the FM13, so...................I don't know.

BTW, one of our customers with the TR224 combo is a moderator on here named John, he has gone 10's with that combo.
