Default damn it only 347 rwhp

well this really sucks! i just put in the prc 5.3 heads (stage 2.5) with the 237/242 cam. got it tuned and the outcome was 347 rwhp and 346 torque. well i know i need a bigger exhaust, (have pacesetter longtubes 2.5 y-pipe stock cat-back) and different intake (have the stock ls1 intake and tb), but i really don't think that after this it'll gain the hp that all the other guys have been getting with this combo. this is an a4 with a 4000 stall. can't really think what the problem is thats restricting this. any ideas??

was it dynoed with the TC Locked? and you have a camaro with LTs!!!get x or h pipe and dump it! be lucky you dont have a t/a and would have it look goofy with it being dumped. im sure that would help, but those numbers are really low. I ran 232/251 with bolt ons, 3in gmmg catback, ls1 intake, no ud pulley, and a half assed driveway tune. now i have ls6, true duals, pulley. so im probably right where you are hp wise.

it was unlocked, but still if it was locked the most hp that it would probably put down would be like another 20-25 hp. would an x or h pipe really be better than a y-pipe (hp wise)? thanks for the ideas!

With a unlocked vig 4000 you can loose as much as 40 hp . I saw it with my own eyes on Js`s car with his vig3800 he gained 40 hp locking his converter

Hope that helps

there is definitly a problem here!! your exhaust would not restrict that much power. A dyno sheet would be helpfull. Where is it peaking is there a drop off need more info Although a good exhaust, intake and TB would probably give you another 30-40 hp. do you have a pulley?

I'll give u a list -

stock catback with no cut-out
ls1 intake<-- with h/c ? ARE YOU CRAZY?
3" ypipe would help as well
TB is a few hp if you're looking for all out numbers
and your stall isnt exactly dyno friendly

Period. I'd say with just an ls6 intake u pick up 20-25 rwhp and who knows how much through out the curve. Cut-out, again 5-10 and sometimes even 15hp. Those right there and locking the verter would put u where u want to be.

Looks like the H/C can't breathe like it obviously needs to (LS1 Intake/stockish exhaust). To top that off, going through a vig 4000 stall isn't going to be dyno friendly either.

Yeah I hear the dyno matters. Some give lower numbers than others

Lock the stall, LS6 intake, duals w/ x pipe, better dyno tune should put you around 440rwhp

who cares about dyno numbers? I dynod 346/346....I just ran 12.01 on nittos...full weight, no tune, and stock suspension. my goal is 11.50s next year with computer/suspension tuning and maybe a little weight reduction.

i might swap out the 3500 stall for a little more, but that depends if I become a cheater and get nitrous, lol.

thanks for the replies guys. this was on a dyno-jet. does a pulley help that mych towards hp? (which pulley is better?) oh yeah, and i do have a 3 inch cut-out. sorry i can't put the dyno sheet up (no scanner) but i will tell u what it peaks and drops at: peaks at-6600 rpm drops at-5300 rpm. air - fuel ratio: 14.9 at 3500 rpm and 12.9 at 6600 rpm.

i have ran my car at the track already. and in fact i ran just 2 tenths faster than my previous times. (no heads or cam) so something is definetly wrong here.

Did you flycut your pistons? Because that cam should not clear with those heads otherwise. If your valves are hitting your pistons, you will be way down on power.

To see that power you need to dyno in 2nd with 2.73's, but you say you only gained 2 tenths so there might be something wrong
